I do actually have a large collection from the mid and late 80's and early 90's, but fell away from collection. I look now and see I'd have some catching up to do but when I see 5+ titles for the same character I don't see myself getting back into full collecting.

Right now I just get Civil War, RaMayan, and Conan.

A little set up here for my "list" in this post...

I'm an art student and I was taking a comic book class (yes, an actual comic book class) this past semester. We worked on pencilling, inking, visual storytelling, page structure, lettering, little bit of color, etc...but anyway... My instructor is Daniel Cooney, creator of the Valentine comics by Red Eye Press. On the last day of the semester, he was selling us his latest issue and his two trades real cheap in class. So, I ended up buying:

Valentine: Fully Loaded TPB 1 (signed by Cooney)
Valentine: Red Rain TPB 2 (signed by Cooney)
Valentine #11 (2 copies, one is signed)

    Update:

Things did not go exactly according to plan, but that's not entirely a bad thing. Last comic trip yielded...

    Secret Six- 6 of 6
Fantastic Four: The End- 3 of 6
    Infinite Christmas Special
Civil War: Captain America and Iron Man

I've gotten a lot of comics this past week. For christmas i got all of the issues of the ultimate clone saga that are out, the cable and deadpool civil war tie in, red sonja vs thulsa doom, and some other stuff.

    Today i got:
    FSN 15
    AXM 19
    Winter Kills
    Ultimate Power 3
    BSG 4
    KOTOR 11

This week was farily good. Winter soldier was awesome. KOTOR was good as usual. AXM seemed to be a set up issue. BSG 4 was better than the other bsg issues, but i'm not sure if i'm going to continue to get the book or not. FNS was cool, i think the nurse is the other.

    X-wing: Mandatory Retirement #3
Second issue of the original Dark Empire

    Battlestar Galactice #4
    KotOR #11

Haven't read the first two yet, but I like the others that I bought. The BSG comic series is pretty good, but I'm not entirely sure that I want to spend $3 on it. I may--after the next issue--just decide to search for the issues in the bargain bin later on.

Immortal Iron Fist #2. Though it is not fully explained as yet I like the retcon of various people throughout history being wielders of the Iron Fist, kinda like Witchblade.

I picked Sensational spiderman 29-33 yesterday. I haven't read them all yet, but i have liked what i have read. I've heard people say that they think it's the best spidey title, but i don't agree with that.

Who would've ever thought I'd find a comic store open on New Year's Eve? (To be fair, it wasn't QUITE evening when I arrived, but still, most small businesses like that in my town just use the entire holiday weekend to close up shop.) So, having enjoyed an open comic shop on a Sunday, I picked up:

    Justice League of America- 5
    Justice- 9
    What If?: Age of Apocalypse
    Stan Lee Meets Doctor Doom
    Essential Marvel Team-Up Vol. 2

I really like the iron man and cap one shot. I think the characters are portrayed well and that the book is well drawn.

A word of warning to all comic fans on the West Coast: Many marvel titles (including Civil War #6) WON'T be in stores tomorrow. Apparently there was a big shipping mix up in the LA distribution center that caused some titles to be late last week and this week. (This explains why a few books were missing from my pull box last week). It's not Marvel's fault at all (for once). All books should be in by next Wednesday though.

Nightmare on Elm Street #4: I'm starting to get pessimistic about this series... The next issue will probably be make or break as to me continually buying them for full price.

Batman #661: My Ostrander-fueled Batman purchases have been very good, and this comic is no exception.

X-wing: The Rebel Opposition #2-3: Haven't read them yet.

TotJ: Golden Age of the Sith #2-5: My Tales of the Jedi collection is almost complete! All I need now are 5 more issues.

No Civil War for me this week, my local shop didn't get enough for every subscriber. :( I guess I'll have to wait until next week.

    But I did get:
Battlestar Galactica #4 - I'm liking this book more and more, but it seems a bit "big" to fit in the TV show's continuity.
Exiles #89 - Great final issue for Bedard =D=
    Battlestar Galactica: Zarek #1
    X-23 Target X #2
    Uncanny X-Men #482
    Ultimate Vision #2
Punisher War Journal #2 - Civil War
    Amazing Spider-Man #537 - Civil War
    Frontline #10 - Civil War

Ghost Rider: The Road to Damnation Tpb
Fables: March of the Wood Soldiers Tpb

Does anyone know if any of these Civil War tie-ins spoil #6? I may hold off reading them until I can read it.
