This is not your daddy's Iron Fist. This is a well thought out and well written make over for the character. They made the history of the Iron Fist much deeper(Daniel Rand is the 66th Iron Fist).

Picked up Countdown #51 and Y: The Last Man today, among other things.

Countdown had a really excellent start. Great lead into the series - the only thing that I'm unsure about is the deal with Mary Marvel. I haven't been following the Marvels at all (except for what they did in 52) and I had no idea that she lost her powers. I'm presuming that she'll be recruited by Darkseid, which is a bit of a switch in loyalties and perspectives and all.

The last scenes of Y this month made me happy and sad at the same time. Poor Yorick, poor 355. I bet her real name is Beth.

    Ultimate X-Men Volumes 1 through 12.

I've read the first five so far, the first comics I've ever read in my life. I absolutely loved the first four, as they were amazingly compelling and just cool. I cursed at myself after reading them for not getting into comics earlier. Volume 5, Ultimate War, was a bit disappointing, though. I found myself consistently bored, and unlike the previous four iterations of the series, I didn't feel compelled to read the next issue immediately afterwards.

But I'm really glad I found the Ultimate series. Made it really easy for me to get into comic books without getting lost.

In Trials of Shazam, the Marvel powers are in flux. Billy is now the wizard and Freddy is in training to be the new Captain. Mary was flying around when suddenly her powers cut out and she fell from the air and knocked herself in a coma.

IIRC those are all arcs written by Millar. His stuff in The Ultimates and Ultimate Fantstic Four are just as good. And in other Ultimates news, Ultimates 2 #13 finally comes out this week. [face_dancing]

    This week:

    Fables #61
    Fallen Son - Captain America
    X-Men First Class Special
    Ultimate Spider-Man #109
    X-Factor #19
    Exiles #94
Ultimates 2 #13 - Millar and Hitch put forth a superb effort for their finale issue. The eight page fold out battle scene is simply breathtaking. If only this book hadn't been plagued by delays.
    Battlestar Galactica #9
    Se7en #5
Ultimate X-Men #82 - I am NOT a fan of the art but other than that a quality read
    Uncanny X-Men #486
    Mighty Avengers #3
    Star Wars: Rebellion #6

Millar's UFF run also had art by Greg Land so unless you want to see orgasm face on every single person, I'd skip it.

The 8 page pullout in this weeks Ultimates made me want to kill myself. So stupid.

And I am now of the opinion that Allstar Batman and Robin the Boy Wonder is the single greatest comic book ever.

It is satire to a legendary degree.

    cable and deadpool 40
    uncanny x men 48?
    red sonja 22
    ultimates 2 13

I think fallen son was the strongest book that i bought this week.

Ultimates 2 #13 was good. But the previous 25 issues were better.

Countdown was decent this week. Not great, not bad. Good enough that I want to see the next issue.

Fables took one of those twists that makes Fables so great.

    THis week

    Legacy 12
    new universal 6
    friendly spidey annual
    x men 199
    cap 26

This was a good comics week for me. Legacy was awesome as usual, new universal was again awesome, friendly spidey was a little slow, but i liked the similarities between the sandman and spidey, x men was ok, and cap was pretty good. I'm interested to see how bucky deals with tony.

Light week compared to the last two monster weeks I've had:

    Star Wars: Legacy #12
Captain America #26 - Quite excellent
    Fantastic Four #546
    X-Men #199
    She-Hulk # 18

    Marvel 1602: Fantastick Four Tpb

This week was disapointing. Not due to the actual quality of what I was reading, but rather that I wasn't reading anything. Victoria Day meant that books were being shipped a day late this week, and that meant that I wasn't able to get my books this week. I'll either get them Sunday or next week.

Captain America 26 and Death Dealer 2.

So there's Cap on a table all shrunken up and wasting away. I don't think marvel will do something original here and let the horror of this end in such a way and let it be a tragedy. That alone tells me Steve Rodgers will come back better than ever, the only question will be how long they will drag it out. I just hope a Cap return is done well.

I picked up today the collected edition of Spiderman&Wolverine 1-4 written by Brett Matthews and illustrated by Vatche Mavlian. I would love to talk about it but I don't want to spoil anything. This book is honestly pure brilliance. Added to this is a one shot of Spiderman and Daredevil which I have not read yet.
