Don't let that discourage you....road trip / plane trip...fun, easy and (relatively) cheap.

If I didn't do the brief trip to Melbourne, I wouldn't have my coolest Christmas presents:
    - Autographed Root! album by several members of the band and comedian Tony Martin ( http://myspace.com/rootthemusic ).
    - Fictional book about the US Civil War autographed by the author (very funny, if anyone's interested, send me a PM and I'll pass on details).
    - A very rare book about TISM autographed by the rare members of TISM...I'm sneaky ;)
    - A fun gig by the band Root! (all recorded on digital video :) ).
    - Catching up with friends and family.

Fun and brief trips interstate for music are awesome :D

We looked into this, as I wanted to go badly, but all concerts are sold out and yeah, there are tickets on ebay if you are willing to pay $600 for a pair in the back row!!! $2,000 got you front row in Melbourne for two.....not such a cheap trip then. :p

Yikes! But then again, the concert tix may well not be cheaper if a concert was held here. But that's pushing into crazy territory - I looked into going to see Daft Punk and the Chemical Brothers...both were pushing into the $2-300 per ticket on ebay! Lucky the Chems are coming here early March :D

We were lucky / nuts - flew to Melbourne for a FREE gig that lasted exactly 60 minutes!

FWIW - the return tix to Melbourne for the two of us were $220 each. Definitely not the cheapest, but a friend recently did it for $160 each (which is pushing into less than petrol cost). And one of the airlines recently had $60 one way! (I love my random interstate trips).
