All 3 have a 10/10 from me though I rated every episode of the saga a 10 soo yeah.

To me the only Star Wars film that deserves a 10 is ANH. The reason is that it started it all, it is an integral part of my childhood and it is perfectly able to stand alone. There are so many things I love about ANH. Of the others ESB is clearly the best and gets a 9. I have given the others 6-7 because they had so much more potential, but the directing by George Lucas really does lower their rating.

Just a reminder, this thread was created because I wanted to know what you rated the prequels on IMDb... as far as I know, you can only rate the movies with whole numbers.. not with decimals. So when someone says 7.5 for one of the movies here, I think you're mistaking this for a "rate the prequels" thread...

If we can only rate with whole numbers, then I guess I'll have to go with the following:

TPM: 8 (Jar Jar's antics can be a bit...much and I find the pod race goes on a tad too long)
AOTC: 9 (droid factory could be cut and I'd like to see a lot of Padmé's scenes reinstated)
ROTS: 10 (I love Padmé's scenes with the formation of the Rebellion, but at the same time, I think reinserting them into the film would hurt the flow of the story)
ANH: 8 (while it's technically as close to perfect as you can get, I find it lacks the depth of emotion of the other films and it seems to be the most disconnected of the six)
ESB: 8 (I'm not too fond of the Han/Leia romance and I would have liked to see a more solid overarching plot)
ROTJ: 8 (Not too fond of the Ewoks and the tonal shifts, but Luke's scenes are generally among the best in the Saga)

That's my current rating at the moment, but it changes and is malleable.

Nah, I guess that's kind of what I would rate them. I just don't want to make an account or even just bother to vote. Plus, I'd be tempted to just give them all tens because I feel that all of the prequel films are grossly underrated. The problem with the whole number system is that it doesn't allow for much precision. I think that ROTS is slightly better than AOTC which is itself slightly better than TPM, but there's no way to reflect that without removing 10% from each rating. And I don't really think they're quite that far apart, personally, in terms of enjoyability.

 

you bring up the exact point and bias too many SW fans have..but then boost the rating as they would.

I enjoyed the movies..AotC is hard to watch...I still overall enjoy the PT movies more...but it's our love of Star Wars that blinds our outlook on them as "movies"

if you were to judge them straight as movies..they don't have low enough scores honestly...terrible dialogue...nonsensical plot points...contradictions...plot holes...wooden/bad acting..etc.

And yes I'm talking about the PT as well as the OT for some of those points.

What's funny is it's probably the non-SW fans that give the most "fair" and "unbiased" ratings....look at what's been posted here..one guy said only go vote if you want to raise the score..if you want to lower it don't bother...another artificially boosts the score..etc....it's really sad honestly.

I do love the prequel trilogy, ROTS being my favorite SW movie alongside with ROTJ.

 

In my audio class my prof wanted us to bring a CD of music to class. I brought the ROTS soundtrack. I didn't present it because we didn't have time. But this one guy who was sitting next to me gave me a dirty look when he saw it was "Revenge of the Sith". He proceeded to tell me it was an awful movie, and everyone thinks its awful but me.

*sigh*

Were people saying this in 2005? Rotten tomatoes has it at 80%, its summary says "This sixth and final installment of George Lucas' epic space opera will please die-hard fanatics and non-believers alike -- largely due to awesome digital effects and the sheer power of the mythology."

I suspect a certain lengthy opinion piece may have influenced some, but on imdb the score isn't bad either (7.7/10 it might have been in the top 250 sometime in 2005 or so)
