ST What Do People Want to See in the New Films?

Gratuitous nudity

 

What I want to see:

- A new batch of characters and relationships that I care about.
- Action scenes are a given, but I hope the movie also has some of those great quieter moments that make SW special (such as when Yoda lifted the X-Wing out of the swamp)
- Small touches of humor that are actually funny, without screaming "HEY LOOK! AREN'T I FUNNNNY?! WOCKA-WOCKA!"
- Some restraint when it comes to call-backs to the previous films (a few nods to the older films are inevitable, but I don't want this movie to feel as if it is constantly winking at the audience and saying, "Hey! Remember this?")
- The introduction of a memorable villain that will span the trilogy
- At least one or two "stand up and cheer" moments (not that I'm likely to actually stand up and cheer, but I should at least feel some urge to do so.)
- Something that gives us a reason to ponder the movie after it ends. In other words, something that provides us with great "what-if" discussion material as we await Episode 8.
- Guppies

 

i'm hoping that there's not non-stop action....give the movie some time to breath and reflect at points. We don't need constant transitions from scene to scene to push along the next action scene. we need some time to get to know the new characters, more than just how good are they in a fight.

 

A massive space battle that hangs the balance of good and evil for the galaxy.

 

Lambada the forbidden dance.

 

Adam Driver playing a primary villain.

 

My wish list is pretty simple...

-'Old Married Couple' banter between Han and Leia
-Jedi Master Luke Skywalker being....Luke (bonus: training a new Jedi)
-A fun movie that introduces the heroes in a way that we're all cheering at the end when they win
-Threepio and Artoo continuing to bicker, even if it's only once
-Balanced heroes that aren't overly angsty or 'bad*donkey*' for the heck of it, but with character flaws and weaknesses to make them 3-dimensional
-An honestly scary villain...one that will give you the creeps like Palpatine did
-Space battles!!!!
-One good, meaningful lightsaber duel

 

1. The charred remains of Vader's suit being sifted through by someone obsessed with Sith culture.
2. A lightsaber duel involving Luke Skywalker.
3. A republic being slowly rebuilt amongst the smoldering remains of the galactic civil war.
4. Cool weapon/armor designs and plenty of rugged, hooded cloaks.
5. Lastly, an epic battle sequence involving planetary and space combat. Maybe, an X-Wing or two providing air to ground support.

 

No dudes though.

Coruscant. By far my favorite planet in the saga. I'd get chills from finally seeing Luke in the bright center of the universe.

 

Dantooine. I want to see them on Dantooine.

 

As opposed to the planet that's farthest from it?

 

I want John Williams to bust out a couple fresh themes on par with the originals. He's always good, but I mean something today's 10 year olds will hum for the next 30 years.

Yeah, just once I'd like to hear Han Solo say, "You know what? I think this is going to work out okay." Naturally followed by the Falcon crashing headlong into a mountain.

• Luke Skywalker taking down a Star Destroyer with The Force (but the exertion it takes to do so damn near kills him!)
• Han shooting first! (Ultimate fan service, think of the applause in the theater)
• Somebody pulling the ears off a Gundark
• Chewie ripping stormtrooper arms out of sockets
• Luke being a hybrid of Yoda/Obi-Wan/Qui-Gon as far as his wisdom with the Force, but being 100x more powerful than Anakin ever was
• Luke communing with Anakin, Yoda, and Ben
• Han Solo & Chewbacca sacrificing themselves & The Falcon in order to save the day (Somebody from the OT has to go)
• Darth Plagueis as the Ancient Sith Lord
• A character that is a descendant of a prequel character
• Duel of The Fates, Qui Gon's Funeral/The Immolation Scene, Anakin's Betrayal, Battle of The Heroes, Padme's Ruminations themes being re-used
• Star Wars Main Theme, Binary Sunset, Yoda's Theme, Yoda & The Force, Leia's Theme, The Imperial March, The Emperor's Throne Room themes being re-used
• An EPIC original theme song score for Ep 7
• EU characters mentioned by name as a "thank you" to EU fans (even though I'm not an EU fan)
• A Lando Calrissian cameo
• An Imperial Remnant Politician revealing the "secret" that Luke Skywalker is the Son of Darth Vader to discredit Luke and to plant seeds of doubt in The Rebel Alliance/New Republic to place faith in Luke as being a viable option to lead
• Luke Skywalker training a rag tag band of Jedi that are more akin to Samurai than the Monks we saw in the prequels
• Mandalore, Mandalore, Mandalore
• Correlia
• New Bounty Hunters that are even more bad ass than ever before
• Luke traveling to the Old Jedi Temple to recover holocrons
• Luke discovering the Kyber crystal
• Luke showing his apprentice(s) how to construct a new lightsaber
• John Boyega & Daisy Ridley having a lightsaber "sparring" session
• Luke using Force Lightning to trick the audience into thinking he has turned to the Dark Side
• An emotional showdown that pits Luke Skywalker and Han against each other (Think Obi-Wan & Anakin's dialogue on Mustafar, but even better)
• An elite Stormtrooper unit that employs the use of lightsabers
• A "darksaber" being shown on film
• The Hutts attempting an assassination on Leia for killing Jabba

Some other plot elements I wouldn't be opposed to seeing (and that I think could be interesting, if done well)

• Leia, who is loved Galaxy-wide as a political leader decides to reveal to the galaxy that she is the sister of Luke Skywalker and the daughter of Darth Vader, in order to counteract the negativity planted by the Imperial Remnant and to tell them that if they're confident in her abilities to lead, they should be confident in Luke just the same
• Leia's decision to reveal her connection to the Skywalker bloodline has an adverse effect from which she hoped, and the Senate decides to oust her as the leader of the New Republic
• Lupita's character is installed as the leader of The New Republic, but she is secretly in league with the Imperial Remnant/Sith Loyalists
• Force users being banned from the galaxy/sent to live in exile

 

I want to see Major Bren Derlin.

If there's a scene w/ Derlin at a Cantina bar having a beer, I'd totally geek out..Geek out ever more if the bartender was Mayday!

 

Engaging arcs for Han, Luke and Leia.
Engaging next generation.
Engaging villains.
A small Jedi Order.
A galaxy split into many factions.
No true galactic government until end of Episode 9.
Engaging non force users.
Awesome JW music.
Space battles
Lightsaber battles
