I felt the same way as solojones. the CGI just blew. Every scene without them was ten times more effective then any of the scenes with them.

 

I've only seen it once, so I have to give it an 8. The ending felt a little rushed but I loved the concept and overall execution.

7-First half is outstanding and then it becomes another zombie flick

 

I'd really give it a 9.5, but I went ahead and voted 10. One of the best movies this year, IMO. Amazing film.

10. I love the book, the Vincent Price movie was great, and Will Smith was just as good. The coolest thing is that all three are actually quite different, providing contrasting flavors.

Will Smith was smashin'. Loved his role. I highly enjoyed the film and definitely want to see it on DVD ... I think it would work really well alongside other good action films. Some of the moments in it were so gracefully poignant.

 

I gave it a 7. I really liked it, but then the ending was crap.

A 7. The only thing I liked was Will Smith, really. Other than that it was another zombie flick.

I thought the CGI Zombies looked....interesting

 

Don't get me started on this travesty. I had such high hopes because I loved the book so much. The movie slaughtered it, going so far as to even ruin the purpose of the title.

 

It is different. I choose to enjoy it in its own right, but I can understand the reluctance.

 

I think that Smith did an excellent job. I mean, almost the whole thing was just him...and that takes skill to pull off.

Watching the movie with a grown man that literally ran out of the room every time the zombies came out definitely made it more entertaining, I must admit.

I saw the alternate ending and can't decide which I like better. Because if he hadn't died, he couldn't really be considered a legend, and yet it made the zombies sentient beings and made Neville realize that he was wrong in thinking that they were mindless bloodthirsty creatures with no signs of humanity in them...and yet again the CGI-cuddling scene was a bit...off.

Overall, I'd give it between 7 and 8.


And this comes from a person who didn't read the novel.

 

8 - It was great, I loved the 'bad guys' because they reminded me of Reavers and Splicers. Will Smith is still a good actor, not the best but good. Also, the first time I saw it I had drank an energy drink and had just cleared half of "Fort Frolic" [anyone who's done that part should know why I was freaking out] in Bioshock before viewing. Lots of fun, my friends couldn't stand me.
