Speculation What do you think the opening scene will be?

I'd like to see something similar to TPM and ANH. Open up with the diplomatic cruiser and two mysterious cloaked figures. They remove their hoods and reveal themselves as Luke and Leia. The mission takes a turn for the worst when the enemy attacks, and we see our heroes battle it out as badass Jedi Masters just like Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan did back in Episode 1.

 

I'll preface my post by saying I almost don't give a rat's ass. I mean that in that any opening scene of a new Star Wars movie will have me amped over the moon any way.

So just for fun I will say that i want to see Luke and his Padawans on tatooine saving Mos Espa or Mos Eisly colonies from a raging Krayt Dragon. Something like that to intrduce us to the new generation of Solos and/or Skywalkers would be amazing.

 

I loved opening in TPM so i will vote for this kind of a start.

 

The Mill Falcon flies under a massive cruiser & we go inside to reveal the big 3 & the droids .

 

I'm a big fan of the opening of Temple of Doom, so I would like it if (after the opening crawl and pan down) we go inside a luxury starship cruiser or space station and witness a play or musical number with actors portraying Luke, Vader, and the Emperor before a live audience. The play would depict the final moments of the Empire and Luke's triumph over evil. This type of opening would accomplish four things right off the bat:

• Get the audience's pulse racing by making them think they seeing the real characters at first.
• Bring us up to speed and put us in the right mind set by summing up what happened previously.
• Showing us just how deeply Luke (along with the Alliance) and his accomplishment have effected the galaxy at large and become the stuff of legend.
• Build up the suspense by forcing your mind to wonder what's going on with the REAL Luke and friends, so that when we finally see them later on, it's all that more powerful.

This opening won't happen, unfortunately, but it's something I'd do just to get a big, unexpected reaction out of the audience.

Temple of Doom Opening:

 

The vision I have in my head is have the scrawl, pan down to Yavin IV and then have 10 or so attack ships/fighters race past the camera on either side. Inside the ships we see the pilots in black helmets, no one is talking. Cut to the surface and to the Jedi temple, Luke is intensely discussing a disturbance in the force with another Jedi Master "I feel that something terrible is about to happen". Then a series of explosion at the entrance, followed by red sabre wielding warriors striding in and cutting through the two shell shocked Jedi guarding the entrance........

 

A space battle between the Alliance and some die-hard extremist Imperials...

 

I'm pretty sure it'll open with a crawl, a slow pan through space to a ship or a planet, and someone will be in danger. I mean, there is a precedent after all.

 

It will open on Luke heading to a mysterious planet to investigate the source of his disturbing visions.

Or perhaps the final battle with the last remaining remnant of the Empire.

 

I love the idea of Luke and Leia opening it. Have C-3PO and RD-D2 along with them!

 

I imagine it will start off with the villains first.

 

I really like that second one-like the opening scene in Gladiator. Then we switch to the mess New Republic politics usually is.

 

The Millenium Falcon descended over Coruscant, transporting Leia Organa to an emergency meeting of the New Republic... then Luke dispatches our new heroes (Bets money on Ben and Jaina) to help resolve the crisis.

 

Definitely needs to be action related. I liked the opening to TPM, but it was more talking than anything. You need something like ANH/RotS. Action/battle of some sort...

I would love it to be with either XWings or the Falcon...

Panning down to the Falcon would make me pop out of my seat.

I don't even care where they're going.

 

That's pretty interesting. BUT what if it were reveresed. A very large Republic cruiser overtakes a small Imperial ship of some sort. The doors get cut open with lightsabers and Luke, Leia and their Padwans enter -- quickly defeat the small group of stormtroopers and capture the VIP, whomever the Imperial leader happens to be. THEN the tie fighters come out of nowhere to the rescue and then they're wiped out by the Falcon running shotgun escort.

 

A derelict space cruiser drifting in empty space. It will be obviously battle-worn and definitely run-down. Another ship will fly into view, containing our hero(s), on the way to investigate.

 

I'm not sure about what happens next, all I want is the traditional blast of music with the Star Wars logo and the opening crawl. Something cool to me though would to be the camera to pan a different direction (left, right, diagonally, etc.) to set up the scene. I always liked how the camera panned UP at the start of Attack of the Clones. After that I'd just be happy with Mark Hamill making lightsaber noises in front of a mirror for 2 hours. STAR WARS!

 

More than likely Coruscant from space.

 

The opening scene will feature a Star Destroyer.
It has to! All the movies of the PT started with a Star Destroyer in space...

 

I get the gist but I don't think that the ST should adhere to what the OT or the PT did. For example in the OT, whenever someone went to Hyperspace we saw the starfield stretch. Then in the PT George reversed it and we saw the ships stretch. I think if anything we're going to see diversity with echos of the first six.
