Here's a couple to get the brain going.

    Moister Farmers (not recomended)
    Hutts
    Bantha Breaders
    Wanton Raiders
    Droid Destroyers
    Wookie Traders

    Any other thoughts

I would not recommend having "slavers" in your name...keep in mind, this is a name non-Star Wars fans will see and hear about or parents of prospective members anyway. Goofy and Star Warzy, sure, but it probably wouldn't be in your best interest to have something that people who don't get it will read wrong.

The best names, in my opinion, are the onese that play off something significant and local to your group.

    Examples:
    Indy Knights: Hoosier Daddy, Luke?
    Arch Vaders Society
    E'ville Jedi
    R2-Detroit

There's nothing wrong with a name that doesn't fit into that, it's just a personal preference of mine. The name Des Moines doesn't lend itself well, maybe Moines Eisley Something or other, but maybe something better will pop up.

I like Sebulba's [moines Eisley's] although I'm impartial at this point. We'll have to get some more posters here for awhile and when we get enough people, maybe decide?

I thought Artoo-Des Moines would be a good one, but that would be too much like Detroit's.

Maybe DesTrillion (twin planet to Dubrillion, but I guess that would be too EU).

I guess you can always take a look at the Unofficial Encyclopedia on TF.N's main page if you're really stuck.

Does anyone have any thoughts on how to get more people from the area to post here, with the exception of links in our sigs? I mean other than that.

Myself and Burris are working on some stickers and stuff to take to Mayham comics in Ames. See if they will stick them in the bag for us.

Actually it's in Clive, it's been there for a few years now.

If the line at the opening of AOTC at the Merle Hay Mall Cinema was any indication, we shouldn't have too much of a problem with a fanbase here in the Des Moines area, we'd just need to get the word out so that people know.

    *off topic I know*

Do you guys have the IMAX clones Kyle?

Do we know how many people are from Iowa let alone the Des Moines area in the JC? is there a way to get that info or is it pretty much impossible? I would think there's no way to find out.

Nope. Des Moines doesn't have an IMAX theater.

Even then, I wouldn't go and see it knowing how much they butchered the damned thing.

Nope, the Science Center just has a DigiStar planetarium. If it was an IMAX theater, the building would be a lot bigger than what it is now.

I recall seeing a list of all the edits done to the IMAX version a while back on TFN. Can't remember what all they were, but the majority of the edits were cuts to a lot of the character building scenes which I tend to like the most.

There's an IMAX theater in Sioux Falls, South Dakota (about a 4 hour drive from Des Moines) but I didn't see AotC there because I didn't have the time or money to drive down there and watch it.

It's not so much the editing (I was actually curious to see what they did) but since I live in a state where the nearest big cities are hours away, it's usually best just to stay home.

I'm brainstormin' some ideas for a name, and yes, they're all cheesy:

    DesMoidians
    Spice Moines of Kessel
    Star DesMoiners
Jediowan Fanforce (sounds very Star Wars-ish - like padawan and Obi-wan...)

Actually now that I re-read them, I see that they are cringe worthy, and may only be used for a good laugh...

EDIT: I'm graspin at straws here, but... 'Twin Iowan Engine'... like TIE fighter...... yeah... I know it's dumb...
