As mentioned, some kind of offhand mention of "The Thrawn campaign" or something similar. That'd actually mean a lot to me, The Thrawn Trilogy basically was Star Wars to me for a few years.
Love the idea of a HK unit somewhere in the background. Would be a sweet parallel to the Sandcrawler and the IG unit on Bespin. Alternately, have a droid refer to a humanoid as a "meatbag".
Somewhere in the opening crawl "It is a time of peace in the Galaxy". The calm before the storm.

I hope Luke and R2 are still flying his X-wing. Maybe it will be obsolete by then, but the pilot is the most important component in any ship.

 

Since Disney is in charge now, it'd be a neat little Easter egg if VINCent, BOB, and Maximilian (the robots from The Black Hole) made an little background appearance.

My favorite starfighter design remains the Eta-2 Actis Jedi Interceptor. Next favorite is the X-Wing. I would be happy to see either of these designs return, but more than that I want to have a NEW favorite starfighter design that trumps both.
