This is my new thread where I will talk about things that piss me off in my daily life.

Today's topic: people who come into a store together, as a group of clearly close friends, go around shopping together, then get inline to the cashiers TOGETHER, but then, each one takes own turn to go to own cashier to pay, thus delaying the line up behind them.

I see this happen constantly here, and in places that don't give out Air Miles or any other loyalty points and such; thus it is NOT necessary to pay individually.

Perhaps it's just me, my own still present culture shock.

Back in Russia, it is common sense for people who go somewhere together to simply designate one particular person to whom they all hand their money and he or she then goes up to the cashier for ALL of them and pays for everyone's stuff, at ONCE. Makes the line ups that much faster ;)

Here, in Canada, they seem to do things differently. To each their own.

this seems like very logical and normal behaviour.

besides, most people just use cards now anyway.

a lot of people don't carry cash these days fyi. even if they do it's rare that they would have exact change or even know the exact total, and one designated person having to figure out exactly how much each person owed and then divvying up everyone's change sounds like an enormous pain. also we have a first world problems thread for everyone, you probably don't need your own.

Fair enough, about all of it lol I didn't know about the other thread; I did misspell the title, my bad; and I do use cash for most of my purchases. Credit cards are another thing that grinds my gears. I've actually screwed up with it before and got myself into some bad debts. Took me two years to work myself out of that mess. Since then, I vowed never to get into those things again...

You did it wrong. In Russia, you check out the check-out (So the cashier pays you, at gunpoint I presume).

And to the OP, those groups of people are doing exactly what the shop expects them to do. Absolutely nobody, other than you, would expect them to do what you mentioned. Even if paying in cash it would be totally inconvenient, sorting out everyone's change, money changing hands throughout the shop instead of in one controlled area. It just doesn't make sense to do that, for the shopper or the shop itself.

You know what grind my gears? When harvest come but is no potato, only kold and rape from soldiers of politburo. Long winter, family starve...think is potato to eat one day and is for much joy but is no potato only rock. Salt from tears make for rock taste less of despair.

Eventually wander into forest bekause hallicinate from malnourish...eaten by wolves.

    Is sad.

Yeah, yeah. I get it. Making fun of entire nations is okay here, for some.

But, God forbid I say anything about Turks. Or Ukrainians lol

    Whatever. I can take a hint. I know where I ain't welcome.

Probably because "Turks" and "Ukrainians" aren't nations but nationalities. No one goes after Russians here even if they have issues with Russia. See the difference?

"I hate Turks" is a lot different than fake Russian accents and Yakov Smirnoff jokes.

How does it compare to a sitting US president colluding with Russians to fix an election?

    Or to The Americans?

Or to Russians at a buffet?

Or to a sweet set of Babushka Dolls?

I can't stand my co-workers at all, but one thing that has started to bug me recently is how everyday at the end of the work day, one of them will go to the ice machine and fill coolers full of ice to take home. I have to hear that scoop-dump sound at the end of each workday. I don't know what this idiot does with it.
