In the Original trilogy, we constantly see Imperial Stormtroopers and Soldiers getting shot and killed by the good guys. I have always wondered if the Empire had a team of undertakers to dispose of the dead or was that handled by Imperial droids. Do you think the bodies were jetisoned into space like Spock in Star Trek II, or were they dumped into a garbage chute, or worse, processed into food, like in the movie "Soylent Green".

I would think the emporer would choose the easiest way however dishonorable. Taking there suit and leave the bodies to rot.

I would assume that a loyal high ranking officer would receive an honorable funeral, wether they were killed in action or by natural causes, not by means of Vaders force choke. As for the low ranking Officers and Stormtroopers, their deaths probably would have less meaning as their corpses would be tossed into the refuse.

this topic reminds me of the conversation they had in CLERKS about the independent contractors working on the new Death Star.

Probably something like Logan's Run where they melt and are reabsorbed into the floor.

I'd imagine that droids would remove the bodies (on ships) and cremate them. As for the ones on the ground, they probably leave that to the local populace.

Officers (and troops, if you don't think that they are clones {differant thread}) are prolly returned to thier families to take care of. Remember, there IS a war on, and so they need to keep recruiting.

Recruiter: So, it looks like your ready to join. Any last questions?

Antilles: Yes, one. What happens to me if I'm killed?

Recruiter: Oh, they'll leave you to rot after they remove anything useful you were carrying, like ammo, weapons, or information. If your lucky, they'll send word to your family about a year or so after you buy the farm that you were killed in action, and your remains are still lying were you lost your usefullness to the Empire.

Antilles: Gee, that's great. You know, I don't think I want to join anymore.

Which is why, given the expendable nature that is shown of the Stormies in the films, the Empire stuck with clones, and never recruited anybody.

[face_laugh] A giant area of space filled with dead guys in storm trooper armor, why wasn't this in the films.

I don't know what normally happened to deceased Stormtroopers, but on Endor even centuries later the Ewok-children were told the legend of The Great Feast!

I have the solution: Bring out your dead!

One of the best Monty Python scenes ever.

Dead stormtroopers vanish, but if you return to the same room they have returned, video-game style.

whatever happens, I'll bet the dead are stripped of armor, weapons, and any information that they have.
