I'd love to read through this thread when I have more time!
I sing, write songs, play guitar, bass guitar and keyboard.

Also, I can't live without hearing music!

I am in a band, and currently I play

The drums, this is my best instument by far. I have completely almost mastered this.
The keyboard, I play around, I don't take it that serious but I can still do it.
The bass guitar, I am very basic in this, I can play the most basic of basic.

I know this does not count, but I sing too.

I love music, and John Williams is a true classical genius!

    I play:

Guitar- (rythm and a little lead)
Keyboard- very very basic (just learning to read standard notation)
Drums- only a few basic beats
    Bass-also very basic

I am not in a band, but I would love to be in one! I have tried in vain to start a few but everybody wants to be guitarist, so as you might have deduced, it doesn't work out. I lik eto play mostly acoustic and indy rock/alternative (i.e.-Coheed and Cambria, Dashboard Confessional, Oasis, etc...)

I used to play the electric guitar a little, but I had so much going on that it kind of phased out, I'm trying to get back into it.

I played piano for 5 years, then quit lessons when I started trumpet. I still play piano on occasion. I've been playing trumpet for a little over 8 years now, and flugelhorn for 2. I'm also teaching myself to play the accordian :p.

I picked up the flute back in October '06, and am becoming quite good. It's an excellent instrument. So that brings me to:

    Violin
    Viola
    Cello
    Contrabass
    Piano
    Flute

I'm considering renting an oboe and learning how to play it. It's quite a wonderful instrument.

BFA in Percussion performance - marimba concentration. But I play almost all percussion instruments with the exception of some eastern percussion that I am not formally trained in. I dabble in guitar / bass and play the piano, trumpet and kazoo fairly well.

I play Soprano Saxophone. Not the "saxophone", the "soprano saxophone". I have no idea why so few people play this brilliant instrument.

I used to play the violin. But I wasn't that good. I just played it because you had to take either an instrument or vocal:rolleyes:.

I want to learn to play the Balalaika. I would welcome any advice anyone might have. I played bass (both upright and electric) a tiny bit when I was a kid, and was never any good and had a lot of trouble trying to learn to read music, etc. Is it possible to learn a few basic chords and get to sound like something without such formal training?
