I think the two shows are on at different times. (if that's what you meant)

I'm not sure what he meant, but I guess if they're not competing he must have meant the Who special will be a better present. Rude!

    Maybe they're just uninformed.

Whatever the case, it will be a glorious Christmas Day. Doctor Who then Downton Abbey.

I'm not reading any posts before mine just in case. I just have a question, and please don't jump down my throat for it. Does it get less... slow past the first episode? I mean, I like some really slow, plodding programs, and this has some interesting elements for me as a history nerd, but damn.

It does, especially in the second series. :)

I'm just saying, would it kill Lord Crawley to occasionally roundhouse kick someone in the face whilst wearing a Stetson?

Indeed... except it's important to remind Downton virgins that the faster moving second series isn't as good as the slower moving first.

I had a similar reaction as Everton. :p

Now the long wait till the third season. :( Should be interesting with the Irish civil war, I fully expect Sybil's husband to die.

Well, at least the inevitable outcome wasn't dragged out until the very end, doing it now makes more sense.

Maggie Smith needs a peerage, she is awesome.

    A Christmas miracle!

Also, "is that a promise?" may be the best line of the whole special.

Finally I've caught up with everything. (Swedish television showed DA so that the last episode of season 2 was last Friday and today we got the Christmas special).

OMGOMGOMGOMG. I was crying and squeeing throughout most of the episode. And when Matthew jumped on Richard I had to just scream "Go Matthew!".

The only question is of course what storylines we will get in season 3, except for the obvious "operation free Bates" plot. I must say that one of my favorite parts of the episode was to to see Matthew being the legal expert that he is, and we haven't seen much of that before.

Well she made her choice, and I think she is going to honour that, whatever the result is. And I must say that I'm looking forward to the fenian grandson.
