What is it about Anakin and Amidala?

What is it about Anakin and Amidala that draws us to stories about them (or to write stories about them)?

 

I don't know. I don't really read them. Not my cup of tea.

 

I think the tragedy of their romance is appealing, in a Romeo and Juliet kind of way. It's beautiful and incredibly sad at the same time.

 

I think it's the whole doomed from the start idea. We know that it's going to end badly and if it doesn't, we want to see a plausible explanation.

 

Two things: first of all, the hopelessness. Like Romeo and Juliet, they?re doomed. It?s very romantic. The other half of it is that we don?t know the details yet. That makes it a very attractive area of fanfiction to explore.

 

I actually don't see much appeal in it. I find that in any story, romance must involve very un-romantic external forces in order to be effective, even when it is the primary focus. An Anakin and Amidala love story is rather bland if it does not relate to how their bond responds to the external factors of the events unfolding in the galaxy.

 

Interesting point.

 

I think that part of the appeal of the Anakin/Amidala relationship is that it hasn't been told yet.

Fanfic writers have license to write it however they want.

For now...

 

I think its the fact that we know the outcome but don't know how it comes about. Its fun guessing before GL puts all theories to rest.
