What is Mace Windu´s purpose in the saga?

I think his purpose is just to show someone as higher up in the command chain as Yoda, a fellow jedi master and how they interact with each other. Also, he might be there just to show how wise Yoda really is. IN attack of the clones, he wanted to tell the senate their ability to use the force was diminished, how dump is that? I like the character but come on. If it wasn't for Yoda.... I think he'll die in some kind of sacrifice, helping the others escape or something like that.

 

i think mace would have been right to tell the senate that their power has been decreased, because, if you think about it, if he had done that, then it would be much more difficult to declare the jedi traitors. the jedi have been around for thousands of yrs, its going to take sumthing big, and purposeful for the people and senate to declare them traitors, so in closing mace was right and yoda was wrong on that one, we'll see that in episode 3, i think
