What is Palpatine's real name?

I have been wondering about this for quite some time do you think that Palpatine is his real name or do you think that it could be some kind of alias used by Darth Sidous used for his senatorship and eventually being the chancellor.

Maybe in the Star Wars universe it is a Political friendly name. For instance in the Movie Donnie Brasco Joe Pistone uses the name Donnie Brasco to go undercover because it sounds more like a mafia name. So maybe Palpatine just sounds good as a Political name. Or maybe Palpatine could have been a very popular name on Naboo or something, just speculating.


What are your ideas or thoughts.

 

The original version of his character in Lucas's early scripts was named "Cos Da****."

EDIT: Well. I was just saying, from the topic name, that might be his 'real name.'

It think it has pretty much been assumed to be his real name....but then again there is not much known about Palpatine's past. The official databank is (as always) not very informative about details. Although the StarWarsWiki had this to say:

Information about Palpatine is difficult to come by, since most records on his homeworld concerning his ancestry, his immediate family and his upbringing have long since "mysteriously vanished," and were most likely deliberately destroyed.

I'm sure Palps had plenty to hide about his past. I wouldn't put it past him to change his name to hide his familial connections...but barring any evidence to the contrary, I think it's safe to assume Palpatine is his real name.

i think palpatine is his real name. just like dooku is tyrannus' real name, and skywalker is vader's real name. what reason is there to think that palpatine was not born with the name palpatine?

Isn't Dantius and Cos both names presented by EU? We don't know what his name is. We know Palpatine's last name but maybe his first name is something George Lucas never elaborated on.

 

Dantius is the name Supershadow made up for Palpatine.

Cos Da**** was Palpatine's name in the original drafts of Star Wars.

George Lucas has never mentioned Palpatine's first name and it has never been in an official source, so in effect, there is no way of knowing - just as there is no way of knowing what species Yoda is and where he is from.

Answer: He has no first name.

He watched Taxi driver and was inspired by the corrupt politician Palantine. Oh wait, that was Lucas.

Hopefully we'll never learn much more about Palpatine. I'm sure EU writers will begin to get bored in about five years and start inventing a whole lame history.

The rumored first names are not true. At one point he was listed as Cos Palpatine at IMDB, but this is just a confusion of the first incarnation of the emperor from the ANH story treatment where he was named Cos Da**** (haha, dumb). Supershadow invented the name Dantius which i find myself strangely liking, with its Roman connotations (iirc, SS also invented some lame first name for Yoda as well).

But yeah. No first name. The EU will likely provide one after a few years.

 

No offense, but this has got to be the 15,000th post on this. There is no first name, EU or otherwise at this point.

There is of course, as, Lord_Coras noted, the great old joke that his name is Frank...."I must be Frank your Highness."

In case you didn't notice, this thread is not asking for Palpatine's full name. It's asking whether Palpatine is his true name or not.
I believe that it's his true name(and that he doesn't have a first name ).
