I liked the remastered version better myself, less creepy.

Adywan's version. It actually looks like how the Emperor is supposed to look.

I love the original but whatever version looks the closest to ROTJ.

Adywan is a guy who's made some fan edits of the OT (I think he did the PT, but as a single 3 hour thing or something) that work to bring up to date some special effects and, for the most part, remove SE additions

In terms of visuals, probably Adywan, since his looks much closer to ROTJ, which is much closer in the timeline to ESB that ROTS. That being said, his also removes some dialogue, so I perfer the SE version in that sense.
As far as I know, the only major SE additions he's removed are Greedo Shooting First, the changed line in ESB ("Bring My Shuttle" to "Alert my Star Destroyer to prepare for my arrival), and the aforementioned Emperor dialogue.

Here's a list of all of his alterations

Perhaps I did exaggerate. It would be more accurate to say he's removed a good deal of the more obvious SE additions

Remastered one for sure - provides continuity both for voice and visualization.... although I wish they had left the dialogue the same...

I like the original version, because it's creepier. His image is what it should be at that point in the series: mysterious.

If I'm just watching TESB in the context of "this is the second movie, and I haven't seen the third one yet", then I like the original the most; his voice & appearance are unsettlingly calm, which adds to the creepy vibe.

But if I'm watching in the context of "this is the second movie in the Star Wars trilogy" or "this is the fifth movie in the Star Wars saga", then I'd prefer Adywan's version; it is what the 2004/2011 version should have been. The actual 2004/2011 version feels like a half-measure attempt at creating continuity but fails since it doesn't go all the way to make him look like the ROTJ Emperor. Instead, we get an Emperor that was clearly filmed during the ROTS production. So since this is a checkbox kind of vote, my votes go towards the original and Adywan's.

Well, ROTS and SE ESB were made at the same time. so he looks like his ROTS self. Just letting you know.

The remastered version for continuity purposes, but I do like the original.

That's my point, is that there is continuity throughout where the same actor is portraying the same character throughout, not only from a physical perspective, but also vocally.... Palps should look like his ROTS self in ESB....

I think I like the dialogue better in the original version but don't really care that much about the appearance. I guess if I had to chose I'd pick the original for nostalgia reasons.

The dialogue change is beyond ridiculous.
Emperor: "I have no doubt that this boy is the offspring of Anakin Skywalker."
    Vader: "How is that possible?"
Emperor: "Search your feelings, Lord Vader. You will know it to be true."

    Earlier in the film.
"The Rebels are there, and I'm sure Skywalker is with them."

Sorry I have no idea what argument you're trying to make here... My only point is that the SE ESB leveraging Ian McDiarmid provides a single face and voice throughout the span of the six films... that is something I appreciate and prefer.

ESB is 1 year before ROTJ. ROTS is 23 years before ROTJ. Why does Palpatine's face look the same for 22 years and different a year later? The adywan version looks closest to ROTJ. Since it is closest to ROTJ.

Encuentro I put that down to error. The image of the Emperor looks and sound a lot more like the Emperor we come to know in the re-mastered version. The dialogue does not distract from what is a better performance and for the most part the dialogue is similar.

Adywan. Actually looks like he does in ROTJ, has McDiarmid's voice, and has the original dialogue.
