Cheese plate is coming on too strong while pizza is definitely too casual. You need a middle ground like maybe pizza rolls. Also, since pizza rolls are more of a snack food, it leaves the option open for you to take things to the NEXT level - hot pockets.

Wooing is not this difficult. Really. Just tell your friend to be themselves. Going over the top with stuff the first time doesn't work very well. It's the little things in the end that matter. Trying too hard = desperation. Even as a guy I could always sense when some girl was trying too hard with me and often times it was a turnoff. My wife and I first hook up on a couch watching Casbalanca (my suggestion...it was my wooing movie) in her parents basement. Modest beginnings but 15 years later plus marriage and three kids said it work out well. There was nothing elborate planned or done. Ditto any other time with an ex-gf/hook up back in my single times.

Just tell them to relax and let things play out. If there is truly a connection there, it will happen. If there isn't, then no amount of "wooing" will help.
