The critics favour the Henry plays. (Henry IV to VI)

    Henry V. It's simply brilliant.

Though I haven't read that many plays of the ones I've read Julius Caesar is my favorite. I totally totally hate Macbeth though.

I don't know that you can 'like' "King Lear". It's one of the most nihilist plays ever.

Ack! This is such a toughie!!!

Despite my love for The Tempest (loved it so much to give my ID the name of Prospero's daughter)... I have to go with Hamlet. Cohesively it is a masterpiece in character development and storytelling.

I can't say I like any of the comedies much.

I thought Laurance Olivier had done for "Richard III" forever...apparently not, from your votes.

A midsummer night dream, is by far my favorite. Puck rocks. And the mechanicals are so funny.

Measure for Measure, followed by the Henry's, Richard III, Lear, Macbeth, Othello, Winter's Tale, and Hamlet.

Hamlet is my favorite...followed by MacBeth and Julius Caesar. Prefer the tragedies more, actually. Much Ado About Nothing was all right, however.

I don't "like" Titus Andronicus per se, but I do have a particular fascination with it of late.

And how much of that had to do with me talking your ear off about that play, I wonder? :p

That wouldn't have anything to do with the baking people into pies thing, now would it? o_O

I can't sneak anything past you, can I? You certainly know your Shakespeare. And your tragedy. And your melodrama. :p

Well, I'd make a pretty pathetic theatre student if I didn't know these things, eh? :p

I suppose so, but if I told 99% of the planet's population that I was interested in Titus Andronicus, and that 99% also happened to know that I'm interested in Sweeney Todd, they'd never make the connection in a billion years. Hence my impressed-ness. :p But seriously, we've got to have a thirty page PM discussion about Titus Andronicus sometime. Really. [face_laugh]

[face_laugh] I'm not entirely sure abut that - most people I know who have read Titus Andronicus remember the pie thing quite clearly, and automatically connect it to Sondheim, but then most people I know are theatre dorks like me and that's the kind of stuff we think about. [face_whistling]

Yeah, sure, after I explain how to make Hamlet female and start your own student theatre company in the same go.

Yay! Success! I am slowly gaining Shakespeare minions! :p
