It has no "meaning". We are here and we will die, that's it. Those who seek some deeper meaning are truly wasting their time as, in reality, they should be seeking something which is attainable (such as happiness) instead.


If life has a meaning though, I'm pretty sure that beer is involved.

This things seems like my one "Why are we here" Well actully I can't remember what it was called but it was a complete flunk like all my other ones!

Anyway I believe the meaning of life is that we should bloody live it and not mourn it! Because we spend our days indoors doing nothing but the computer we'll miss out on opertunitys in life... But I'll give it afew more years before I start to practise what I preach.

 

Postulant I: There is only one God.

Postulant II: God is omnipotent.

Postulant III: God is Benevolent.

Extrapolation: If We accept postulants I, II and III, then it must also be true that God knows of all before it occurs and intercedes on behalf of his benevolency to defeat evil before it occurs.

Postulant IV: Evil Occurs in our World.

Extrapolation: If we accept postulant IV, it can only be a valid proof of the arguement if we either discard postulant II or postulant III.

Extension Predicate: Either God is not omnipotent or God is not benevolent.

Postulant V: If God is not both benevolent and/or omnipotent, he could not of created the Universe.

Conclusion: God cannot in his current conceptual state, exist. God cannot, in any conceptual state, of created the Universe.


If we remove God from creation we remove intent.

If we remove intent we cannot validate the existence of meaning. We can postulate differing meanings and their conclusions, but we have nothing on which to make such universal claims an existential reality.

Ergo, Life has not a meaning.

But beyond that, Life may not have a meaning per se, but it still retains an inherit value in it's mechanical nature. We are a survivalist species, as with all forms of complex matter interaction.

Thus, our goal in life must be to a)reproduce, b)further our environment such as to further the chances of our progeny's survival c)reach fulfilment so as not to exert a detrimental effect on our environment.

This goal I believe, is often substituted fallaciously for a meaning of Life, which - whilst noble and good - is a misnomer and bastardisation of the concept "meaning".

Nevertheless, it is a noble creed and if people wish to live by it - calling it what they will - then I salute them.

If life has meaning, humans have no concept of it. We cant think like that. Its like trying to comprehend that the universe is ever-expanding, or trying to count to infinity.

But, if there is anything in the world that could be said to be a window to understanding lifes meaning, I would say it probably involves alcohol. And perhaps getting laid, like Princess said.

Meaning of life (parent style): Good grades. Good husband/wife. Money...

Meaning of life (teen style): Get drunk. Get laid. Have fun. See every movie ever made. Club all night long. Defy parents...

 

Lets see... Im doing well on the getting drunk bit, and the clubbing and having fun. The defying parents bit goes without saying. The movie bit needs work, as does the... well. Am I a bad teenager, then?
