What is the most stupid complaint you have heard about AOTC?

Every character's a stereotype!
Luke = the simple man who becomes the hero
Han = cocky, wisecracking sidekick
Leia = damsel in distress, turns out to be a big help
etc...

And none are racist. Jar Jar's ears look like dreadlocks? WTF? It's the critics who are comparing him with them! And I've never seen pink dreaklocks...

I hope I don't go too off topic here, but there is just something that I HAVE to say. Critics are lame (total mindblower!). Stephen King once said that artists are excess baggage for society. They don't make anything and they don't keep anyone alive and healthy. So, if artists are excess baggage, what are critics? Anyhoo, Star Wars' appeal has always been that people can relate to it. It is a simple epic of good vs. evil, and people understand that. The acting and dialogue DOES NOT matter because its just supposed to be a great overall experience that you can relate to. Also, the acting and lines seem VERY real to me. They sound natural, and not hackneyed and trite like most acting has been reduced to nowadays. People still relate to Star Wars, and the younger generation is having the same great experience that all of you old timers had in '77 (I myself am a happy newcomer (^^)). So, Star Wars has accomplished its ONLY goal of becoming great entertainment that ordinary joe-blow folks can relate to, critics be darned! (And remember, they all hated the originals, but now they have mysteriously changed their tunes, lol.) By the by, the stupidest complaint HAS to be the acting, it was great but the critics of course hated it.

 

Stupidest complaint? That it's racist against Latinos and that Boba Fett calls Jango "Baba" (which he never says).

"Baba" also means grandmother in Yugoslavian. I guess that means that they are prejudiced towards old women too. End sarcasm.

Also, the love story complaints are annoying - Anakin's not Han, get over it. But Anakin/Vader does kick Han's butt in ESB

 

After seeing AOTC on an IMAX screen with a friend, we were leaving the theater and I happened to overhear another guy who had been at the screening tell his friend that "I didn't like that at all." I mean, didn't like it at all? [face_shocked] Did he step out to the concession stand for the last half of the film? Of course, there's the faint hope that he was referring to the trailer for Like Mike or Hey Arnold! Sigh.

 

Actually in the article I read, "Baba" angered a few Arabs because the word means Father in Arabic, if I recall correctly.

Hey SMITTIUS, welcome. I agree with what you wrote.

 

I heard a good one recently:
"Why were there three monsters in the arena? That was pure CG overkill!"

Maybe there were three monsters because there were THREE people being executed. Or maybe the Geonosians just had an excess of monsters

 

After my sister saw AOTC, I asked her what she thought of it. She said "It had bad acting". I asked her why, and she responded with "because of what they [the characters] said." That made no sense to me, but I didn't feel like arguing about it.

She thinks she knows EVERYTHING about good and bad movies now because she took a THEATER class in high school.

 

For me, the stupidest complaint i've heard about AOTC was that it would have been better to have guys in suits as opposed to flawless CG for the clonetroopers.

 

if they were flawless, why did I and others notice they looked "kinda weird"? I had no idea they were cgi until after my 2nd viewing.

Im afraid were years away from totally realistic cgi.

dont get me wrong, they were impressive. but real is real and they were not.

 

Whatever. The clonetroopers were excellent, and only in one instance did they look at all 'off' and that was when one was making footsteps in the sand when he was running towards the fallen Padme. He puts a knee to the ground, but it leaves no mark. Other than that, they were perfect.

 

What makes us realize that they aren't real is their interaction with real actors... You could really tell that Sam Jackson was alone in front of a blue screen when that clone trooper talked to him.
