Saga What is the Worst "No!" from the Saga

The word "No" is uttered countless times in the Saga. What is least favorite time it is said?




Or is there another "No" that you would choose not included in the selections on this poll?

 

Really, both RotJ Vader "No" moments are terrible, but if I had to pick between the two, I'd choose the latter.

 

The ROTJ no. I just cringe. The ROTS no honestly doesn't bother me.

I really don't care for any of them. The Vader SE change is probably my least favorite, because it spoonfeeds Vader's emotions to an audience which had always understood them perfectly through action, body language, and JW's fantastic scoring. It's insulting, IMO.

 

The no from the droid in Jabba's Palace is annoying, IMO.

 

Worst has to be ROTJ Vader.
ROTS Vader is bad but using it as a meme is fun.

 

The added Vader's No in ROTJ without any question.

 

I'm gonna have to go with Luke's "no" even though it's an unpopular opinion and it's in one of the most well known scenes in the saga. I just don't like it.

 

As much as I like the character Sidious

and think McDiarmid is fantastic, his "no, no you will die" had me laughing in the cinema, much to the annoyance of others around me...so...for accidently ruining the scene for other people I'll go with that one

I don't want to hear anyone dissing my boy Luke's "NO" after finding out Space Hitler was his absent father. There's genuine emotion in that scream of protest, and you can hear his anguish, his denial, and his acceptance all at once. I genuinely think Hamill is the most underrated actor in all six films.

 

Well, his performances in the 1st 3 weren't that noteworthy

 

Vader's in ROTJ is easily the worst. It turns an emotionally powerful scene into a scene that's cringe inducing.

 

Vader's loud one in ROTJ is the worst, followed closely by the quieter no he utters just before that.

 

That's priceless.

I voted for Palpatine's "no" when he was screaming at Mace Windu. Like I've said before, it would have worked better if McDiarmid had been performing it on stage instead of having a camera in front of him. Just my opinion.

 

I know which one is the best. Vader´s No in Return of the Jedi. I turns an emotionally powerfull scene into even more powerfull.

 

Lucas adding the no at the end of ROTJ angered me so much. I get that he was connecting the two sagas but Vader is known for getting stuff done by saying as little words as possible.

 

Yeah ROTJ Vader by a landslide.

 

Why is 97 Luke Bespin falling scream not an option?

I voted first ROTJ Vader no. The second loud "no" is kinda stupid, but that first winey "forshadowing no" makes it that much worse.

 

It definitely has to be the Blu-ray “No” from RETURN OF THE JEDI, simply because it took a great, powerful, dramatic moment and made it unintentionally comical.

 

Vader's Padme Noooooooooooo! at the end of RotS.

 

Just can't decide between Vader's NOoooooooo at the end of ROTS, and Vader's no, NO added in the latest version of ROTJ (Blu-ray).

 

I do actually think the stupid "no's" at the end of ROTJ -- we all know where -- are relatively needless.

I've tried to make fewer criticisms of Lucas' choices over the years, but I haven't warmed to that particular bit of meddling.
