Pelannor Fields. Even though the Battle of Hoth and Yavin were awesome, Pelannor makes everything else look like kid's play.

Battle of Endor: everything just goes out of control once the killer teddy bears show up :p The space battle was amazing, then you have the showdown between Luke verus Darth Vader and Paply all happening at the sametime great stuff.

Pelennor Fields, definitely. But, pardon my nitpicking, shouldn't the title read "Sci-fi/fantasy" if we're including Star Wars battles?

    Wow, love the variety [face_plain]

Wow, since when was Star Wars a fantasy?

And I hardly think that Matrix Revolutions can be classified as fantasy.

The best example of Science Fiction stories is that they contain "things to come", Sci-Fi is speculation about our future, where humanity is going etc. Under this classification, stories such as Star Trek and 2001 are two of the purest examples of Sci-Fi you will find.

Star Wars is pure fantasy... It just happens to be set in space, but being set in space isn't enough to qualify a story as Sci-Fi.

You are dead right with Matrix Revolutions though, that ain't fantasy.

Battle of Yavin. For me it doesn't get anymore exciting or tense. I still get goosebumps after 25 years hoping Luke's going to make it before DV gets him. The music and the Falcon swooping in to save the day is pure magic.

Although I agree with everything BobaFrank said, I voted for Endor, based on the amazing space battle. To this day, the way Yavin ends gives me chills.

I voted for Pelennor Fields, since for the majority of the battle my jaw was on the floor in amazement ;)

    Other,

The last stand in 'The Last Samurai'. The whole sequence up to the very end brought tears to my eyes.

    Wow, love the variety

I did this thread purely for fantasy movies. If I were to try to incorprate war, historical, or action movies, it would be too hard and too many to put into one thread.

Wow, since when was Star Wars a fantasy?

And I hardly think that Matrix Revolutions can be classified as fantasy.

Incorrect. They are stories that never existed. The defination of fantasy is: a work of fiction portraying highly imaginative characters or settings that have no counter-parts in the real world...

Star Wars is purely fantasy. The Matrix is more of a stretch, but I highly doubt the ideas presented in it are ever going to happen (for one thing, I doubt there will ever be a human like Neo who can possess those powers in the real world and computer world). It's all fantastical.
