Raiders of the Lost Ark is my favorite, followed veeeeery closely by Temple of Doom.

"Desert Chase" is one of the best action cues I've ever heard and the Ark theme is so perfectly eery and powerful, especially in "The Map Room: Dawn." The "wrath of God", indeed.

As for Temple of Doom, "Slave Children's Crusade" is one of my favorite Williams themes ever. And the whole score is just so fast paced and exciting. It's like Williams was on a sugar-high when he wrote it. I am absolutely dying for an expanded release of this score.

Last Crusade is, of course, very good as well, but doesn't have the punch of the first two scores. The Grail Theme is wonderful, though, and I love "Scherzo For Motorcycle and Orchestra."

Well_Of_Souls, your mouth is moving, but it's my voice I'm hearing. Odd.

Temple of Doom... I would kill for a complete release.

Raiders is fantastic as well, but I don't think Last Crusade has the same "thing" that the others have. It's still great music, but not in the same league IMO.

Raiders has the best theme. The other two movies can't compare at all. Simple as that.

I have to give the slight edge to Raiders of the Lost Ark, mostly on the strength of the "Ark" theme. But I love The Last Crusade a great deal and I find myself listening to it a lot more than Raiders.

Its hard to choose between the first one and the last one, but I have to go with Crusade. Its a awsome piece of work.

Last Crusade had Escape from Venice. I also liked the Nazi theme from LC. I would like a complete release of the soundtracks. The only one I can find in stores is the Trilogy CD by the Prague Symphony Orchaestra. The Ark theme and the Slave Children theme are also very good too.

Raiders has the March. I have a feeling Williams would not have been able to write as effective a main theme in 1984 or 1989.

Oh man... this is tough... Obviously Raiders is classic... but Temple of Doom has that distinctive asian feel to it which I love... but then Last Crusade has the awesome Nazi themes... GAH! TOO HARD TO CHOOSE!

Well, they're all fantastic of course - five star scores all of them.

But in the end I have to give it to Raiders - if only for 'The Map Room: Dawn' which is one of the greatest pieces of film music ever written. Just the way it starts so quiet and builds and builds to this awesome climax. Amazing.

I like Crusade best, but in band one year we played Temple and I really loved it. So I'd say Crusade, Temple, Raiders.

Because Temple and Crusade do not have expanded editions, the listening experience on those albums is tighter than Raiders. But that seems more like an album structure thing than my actual preference on the material.

Ultimately the Ark theme in Raiders is a trump card for me. It's the single most powerful theme in the series, and I gotta go with Raiders because of that.

"Scherzo for Motorcycle and Orchestra" makes Last Crusade a winner. It's one of my all time favourite movie pieces, and for me is about as close as the Indiana Jones spirit gets to being embodied in one tune.

I love "Escape from Venice", too.

    I just watched Raiders...

Would anyone call me crazy if I said the opening piece, from the main titles all the way up to Indy getting into the plane, was one my absolute favorite Williams pieces?
