I'm stunned that I didn't create one of these type of threads for the princess.

My favorite moment has to be in ANH when Leia grabs Luke's gun and blasting the garbage chute door. Then saying to Han "somebody has to save our skins", classic Leia. I love this scene because it turns the strong heroes saving an damsel in distress on its head, where the damsel saves the rescuers.

If I had to choose one, it would probably be her shoot out with stormtroopers aboard the Tantive IV

But there are tons of great Leia moments. How can anyone pic just one?
I made a tribute to her recently, with a few of her memorable moments.

I have far too many to list, but let's see...

    Lines:

"Somebody has to save our skins. Into the garbage chute, flyboy!"

"This is some rescue. You came in here, didn't you have a plan for getting out?"

"You came in that thing? You're braver than I thought."

"Would it help if I got out and pushed?"

"This bucket of bolts is never going to get us past that blockade."

"I wonder who they found to pull that off."

    Moments:

    Choking Jabba.

Grabbing the blaster and using it.

    Fixing the Falcon.

Showing Han the blaster she had hidden in her jacket.

I love all the classic, iconic Leia scenes, all the moments that demonstrate her wit and resolve and ability to take lead of a situation, the moments that show she doesn't need saving, she can take care of herself just fine.

"Somebody has to save our skins... into the garbage chute, flyboy!"
    Killing Jabba
    Mouthing off to Tarkin
    Saving Han from carbon freeze
"Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?"
The second "I love you... I know" scene

But my favorite moment is when she puts the blanket over Luke. Why? Because despite the fact that she's lost her entire world and everyone on it, all her friends and her family and her culture, she sees this one person suffering from the feeling of loss and immediately goes to comfort him. She doesn't know him, she only just learned his name, but she wastes no time in telling him, "There was nothing you could have done," doing what little she can to ensure he doesn't feel the same guilt she likely feels over the destruction of her home world. Leia's core trait is her ability to be strong when others aren't, and to be strong on their behalf. We've seen her strength all throughout the film up to this point, but this quick little scene demonstrates not just her strength, but her innate goodness as well. That same compassion is shown when Rey returns from Starkiller Base; Leia's husband has just been murdered by their own son, and she's lost both forever, but she immediately moves to comfort this young girl who she likely sees so much of herself in, who's just been through a terrible ordeal. It's no wonder that what Force sensitivity she displays relates most strongly to empathy: sensing Luke's cry for help, knowing he survived the Death Star II explosion, feeling Han's death. There's a reason Leia is such an effective leader, the kind of person others rally behind without a moment's hesitation: she genuinely and fully cares about the people beside and behind her, and that's a rare and valuable thing to find in a leader.

I've always regarded the blanket scene as dismissive of Leia's feelings, but your description of it gave me a new perspective of the whole thing. It really does make her a stronger character.

Definitely nice take on the blanket scene.

And I can't believe I left out these moments and lines:

    Confrontation with Tarkin.

"I thought I smelled your foul stench when I was brought on board."

Her scene with Darth Vader and Tarkin was admirable just for her lack of fear. She's speaking to Darth Vader like he's annoying her, and we never see that kind of irreverence in the rest of the films.

A favorite moment of mine is one that happened off screen.
Even after Tarkin has her home planet (including her parents) destroyed, Leia still never told them where the base was. If anything, it strengthened her resolve. Her entire arc in A New Hope is one of resiliency, never buckling under all the crap the Empire threw at her. And once she was rescued, she immediately went into action, saving a farmboy and a flyboy who were in over their heads. Now that's a hero, a leader and an icon.

In A New Hope alone there are a ton of great zingers and sarcastic one liners.

"Will somebody get this big walking carpet out of my way?"

    "This is some rescue!"

"Aren't you a little short for a Stormtrooper?"

"You came here in that thing? You're braver than I thought"

Oh and I just LOVE that she back talks Vader and Tarkin. That really affected me as a kid watching. I was like "I just watched Darth Vader choke and kill a guy before tossing his body across the room and she's not acting scared of him!".

Her face expression in ESB after Han Solo replies "I can arrange that...you could use a good kiss !" ("I'd just as soon kiss a wookie")...Staring shocked at a rebel soldier passing near.

    [face_laugh][face_laugh][face_laugh]

Also "I happened to like nice men." and the way she looks when Han's about to kiss her in the Falcon in ESB...

    Among others mentioned above...

Her first scene with Vader, mostly because it really lays out how great she's going to be for the rest of the trilogy. The fact that Rogue One demonstrates just how blatantly she's lying to Vader's face(mask) just makes it more delicious.
