The Binary Sunset gives me goosebumps everytime.
I also love Leia's theme very much.

    ANH has a beautiful soundtrack

Binary Sunset. The image of Luke looking at the two suns is amazing.

The binary sunset. Man, that iconic shot of the two suns setting and the music crescendos...My heart melted. I don't think I've ever felt so incomplete and whole all at once.

I cannot agree. ESB just tops it by building on ANH's wonderful foundation (whereas the other scores in the series mostly ride on the coattails of the first two scores, IMO). So ESB gets my vote for greatest film score ever.

...until I consider that without ANH's score, ESB's doesn't freaking EXIST.

I may LIKE ESB's score better, sure. But is it greater than its forebear? I cannot argue that point successfully.

    Or at all.

Dang. You tried to warn me. :)

And for the record, it's "The Battle of Yavin." Best score for best final act in film history.

I'd go with the Jawas theme if it were up there.

But my favorite is probably the throne room sequence. The most beautiful piece of music, period.

The Throne Room/End Title is easily the best OT score.

Battle Of Yavin. You can tell it's so great by playing the old Star Wars Trilogy Arcade game-specifically the Trench Run sequence. The music of course is played here, but better yet, it hits the same "points" in the game as it does in the film. And when that happens, you're not just playing a fun arcade game for a dollar. You're freaking Luke Skywalker about to give the Death Star a proton-torpedo enema.

I like the Cantina Band because it obviously made JW so happy to go back to his roots and write it. :p

I'm new here, but this board piqued my interest! As a flute player for 10 years, and an avid Star Wars's perfect.

I'm going to go with Throne Room...more for it's sentimental value than anything else (although it is a wonderful piece) since it's what my husband and I used as our processional at our wedding. It worked perfectly and was a huge hit!

The sunset theme is best for me in the whole saga. Love the Imperial March too.

I'll never find anyone to marry me, but I always thought that would be cool and work well. Throne Room starts off almost the same as the traditional 'Here Comes the Bride'. Plus what percentage of people would even know what they were hearing?

Not so easy to choose a clear favorite from this soundtrack, I love lots of the tracks in it. I think I would choose 'The Battle Of Yavin' and 'The Throne Room-End Title' as my favorites, with the latter being the slightly better one.

Binary Sunset - I agree with what's been said, quite iconic and very much at the heart of what made ANH the best - that outlook on adventure & a galaxy of possibilities.
