I ran track in high school, so I had to vote for my old sport. I really don't get into the summer olympics that much though, I've always preferred the Winter Games, esp because of the skiing.

Why table tennis but not tennis?

Anyway I'm an Olympic junkie, I will watch practically anything.

I'm not a huge fan of summer olympics, but I find gymnastics namely rhymic gymnastics entertaining.

I was planning to leave it out, to see your reaction :p

Gah! I knew I forgot something major like that

Mainly because the Olympics is the biggest event in Table Tennis, whereas it's more of a sideshow in the tennis year. Plus, you only really get to see Table Tennis at the Olympics, and it's always a laugh.

Swimming is always fun to watch. On tv, anyways. I've heard people say unless you're really into it, watching it in person can be miserable.

That's basically my thinking as well. I might toss a vote in for Table Tennis simply because they don't show much of it. But when they do, I love it.

Of the above, I would pick swimming, probably because I used to swim competitively (if not well..). That said, I tend to watch the Olympics on more of a "ooh, the Olympics are on" basis than planning which events I want to watch.

I've been a fan of gymnastics since the age of three, when I watched starry-eyed at Mary Lou Retton in the 1984 Olympics. I so loved her that I stood on top of the couch, did her cute little salute and then flipped off headfirst into the coffee table. I got four stitches in my forehead, but have been watching avidly ever since.

I have to profess my love for the cycling, those events that occur in the Velodrome in particular.

    Boxing.

These young fighters give their all in one of the most dangerous sports. There have been so many dynamic fights and strange results.

It is alomost a given that at least one American will get shafted a la Roy Jones and Holyfeild.

I went with swimming. I used to be a swimmer in elementary school. Had to go with my roots. I'm also looking forward to the track and soccer portions of the Olympics. Wrestling should be cool too.

For those interested, C&G has a (4-year old, recently revived) poll here on this same topic as well :)
