What is your favourite type of music?

Everything, but R&B, Rap, Country, and Classical the most. Then Rock, can't forget rock. ,: )

 

What about Taiko drummers and bagpipe music? Not together of course, that would result in mass fatalities, but seperate. I guess that would be instrumental.

Is this poll another example of American racism against "electronica"? All of synthesized music from rap to hip hop, from "Euro-Dance" to house, from trance to hardcore, rave and gabber, from big beat to breakbeat, from R'n'B to boy/girl bands, all in a single category?!? Give us at least separate categories for rap/hip hop, techno, and other dance music.

Oh yes, as to what I listen, fast trance, hardcore, happy hardcore (for the less in the know, subcategories of techno). Fast "Euro-Dance" (MTV-style dance music influenced by/sounding like techno) is pretty cool too. Some examples in the commercial sector are (I leave the marginal and underground names away for simplicity): Darude, Scooter, Prodigy, ATB, U96. (But, absolutely NOT ANY rap, hiphop, r'n'b, girl/boy bands, etc. which all unfortunately fit under the "dance" category...)

But then again, I could have voted for
"Classic", also. These polls are so limited, forcing you to choose only one alternative...

 

Techno/Dance is ..... unless it's really slow, ambient-like but without all those horrible horrible sound effects some idiots put into their music. =(

Oh, and I've revised my vote. I'd like to vote for anti-pop instead. =)

 

Orbital are the only good techno group, IMO. And I come from ENGLAND.

I love Christian pop/contemporary, not Britney or NSYNC type pop mind you but Euro-Dance and I love ballads, what are those considered? Well here other but, oh well never mind.

 

I agree that it is too limited only having one category for techno.

It probably contains the most sub-categories in the music world, and some of those are COMPLETELY different.

However, the Gatherer comes from Oz, so he isn't perpetuating the 'anti-electronica' American stereotype...

 

I like lots of kinds of music. Bluegrass, classical, big band, rock, etc.

Gothic, Darkwave, Industrial, Classical, EBM, New Romantic, Synthpop, Punk Rock, Psychedelic Rock, Trip-hop, Progressive Rock, Gregorian Chants, Flamenco, Britpop, Glam Rock (real glam rock- David Bowie, T. Rex, and such, not LA big hair glam rock) et cetera. Basically what it boils down to is:
There are no musical types that I dislike straight out. There is some good in every musical type (though I like rap and country the least). I don't dislike genres of music, I dislike bands.

 

I voted rock, however it may change depending on my mood.

 

I love 'em all. Except rap, which is crap, and shows how much our country is degrading.
