I hope that it can bring balance to the fandom by destroying the bashers.
Pro Scoundrel- Great thread! One of the negative aspects of MB's is trolls and haters. All the negativity in general. Kudos to you my friend!
There's a ton of things I'm excited about!
George Lucas treatments
Michael Arndt -- Little Miss Sunshine -- writing the script.
Kathleen Kennedy producing
JJ Abrams directing
John Williams the score
Presumably the Big 3 coming back
My hopes, probably as high as anyone, might be pretty simplistic. I just want to see the continuation of the saga. A clever villain. And a bunch of cool action sequences etc... I just hope that the ST carries the epic and I still love the PT despite all the hate -- I can keep it in perspective -- and want a continuation of the galaxy far far away that we all love.
Another thing that really excites me about this new trilogy is that I finally get to share the excitement with my kids and I hope that the films can inspire in them the sheer sense of awe and wonder that I had when watching the six films for the first time. That will be a wonderful experience for me.
I just can't wait to see
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...
pop up on the screen again.
That it's fun and engaging
Now I haven't seen LMS but TS3 gives me great hope:
It's fun but also emotional.
Continuity from the previous two films: "The Claw", Jessie mentioning Emily (her previous owner), and Woody mentioning past toys Bo and Wheezy.
And the biggest thing of TS3 and probably Episode 7~Passing on to the next generation.
I second this, because of Arndt's commitment to story and his incredible work ethic. This guy will write until he gets every single line, nay, word right in the script.
@Pro Scoundrel: Great Thread!
I really want female antagonists and protagonists but so long as we get an entertaining 2.5 hour movie that brings new ideas to the saga and doesn't rehash old stuff I'll probably be happy enough.
Jedi and Sith and Smugglers, OH MY!
Seriously though, I'm just so stoked about a new film I'll take whatever they throw at me
This thread reminds me of the days WAY BACK in the JC Forums before TPM was unleashed to a fairly naive fanbase. We were all hopeful. There were very few "fear" topics. We all assumed it would be brilliant, it was SW for crying out loud. The trailers were very cool and we were at fever pitch for amazement.
And then the film released and soured so many. My best hope for this new trilogy is that LFL has the right people for the job to make this as magical & phenomenal as the OT.
It was an elegant forum, for a more civilized time.
It gets released, May 2015.
...that this time we get a really good story along with really good acting and characters you actually care about.
That is why i think the ST comes out with most SW fans having very little expectations and can benefit as it may surprise many fans. There is always going to be hardcore part of the fan base like us who dissect the movies like a CSI would. But all of my friends have never posted on a SW site and just want an enjoyable SW movie. They didn't love the PT, but have moved on from them years ago and will probably walk into Episode 7 with no expectations.
a lot of people didtho.... actually thats interesting people did like the trailers.....i still remember being so excited seeing the gungans coming thru the mist and ws only really let down in certain scenes in AOTC
Is there an archive to see posts from 1998-99? It would be fascinating to read posts from that time period before SW fanbases became fractured.
there has always been fracturing... Ewoks...Iam Your father etc....
MODified: I used your edit function for you. You are welcome, sir.
I want to see Luke in another epic lightsaber duel...
My greatest hope is that I don't regret that it exists. If JJ by some miracle pulls it off I will be a very happy man.
It could be good. If lessons are learned and talent is utilised properly, there's no reason why it can't be good.
(1) better script;
(2) more emotion in characters;
(3) at least PT level overall quality; anything else would just be a major disappointment;
(4) great character and location design;
(5) not too many ties to the Saga.
Easily the greatest cameo of all time.
I hope the new trilogy something a little different and they don't rehash too much. That's one thing I like about Star Wars: each movie is a totally different experience. There's nothing worse than going to a highly anticipated sequel and going "seen it before..." (Terminator 3 comes to mind) But since we got a new batch of creative minds behind the project, I'm optimistic. I guess my greatest hope is just that I walk out of the theater with a smile on my face.
I'm hoping the movie will create several more memes that I can post whenever I want to.
Don't **** with a Jedi Master.
But I will say that (off the top of my head) Christopher Walken in Pulp Fiction might be the greatest cameo of all time.
That it will be better than the EU.
