Wu Ma's the Heroes on Amazon Prime. (Not better than what I already own, but I will keep buying this movie until a Mandarin letterbox manifests).

 

Picked up a couple of bottles of a wine I like at the local corner store this morning - they were on sale at 2 for £10. One will be for Easter lunch - not sure about the other.

I loved Wu Ma films when I was a kid! I've not seen much of his recent stuff, but the ghost/vampire films from the early '80s were great fun.



Nothing interesting today. Some cheap casserole beef for dinner and a couple of faggots for lunch.

For the sake of the Freedom Brigade , faggots are a kind of large meatball type thing made with organ meats (mostly liver & heart), onion and herbs.

 

Wu Ma sadly passed away in 2014, I haven't seen recent directorial efforts but he does have an acting cameo in 14 Blades (2010). His first two films post Shaw Brothers are among my favorite HK action/martial arts movies (The Hand Cuff (1979) and The Heroes (1980) as previously mentioned). Close Encounters was fun, but I am more of a Mr. Vampire fan.
