Now that my DJI Phantom has crashed on the White House lawn, I'm upgrading to a new model:

I've really enjoyed shooting 4k video with my Lumix thingy. But aerial 4k is going to be a hoot until Congress outlaws my new hobby.

that's just an internet picture. Mine hasn't arrived yet. The wood flooring in my house has dangerous splinters that could impale a cat if we owned one. It would almost be worth owning a cat just for that.

 

That looks pretty cool. Is that RTF out of the box, and what do they cost.

 

Yes. My version has two controllers, so my son and I can operate. One for the camera, one for flight. I'm too stupid to build my own drone, although I looked into it. I was talking to a friend of mine who owns a hobby store downstate and builds drones for farmers. We worked up a design for a drone that would carry a 4k Gopro, but it was going to cost about $7,000 for what I wanted. Then this came out. It costs about half that. This solution let me split my budget between the drone and a new PC.

 

So expect to spend a couple of grand? Damn. That's a bit out side my price range. I've seen them on TV and on Youtube and I always think, "that looks cool. I kind of want one."

 

My floor is the same, which is why I'm totally focused on floors. Getting a new one this summer - I fear it will cost me three of those drones.

Flooring is not cheap. Also it's even less cheap if you do it wrong the first time, like my tiled kitchen floor. I'm having to replace it because my contractor didn't screw down the subfloor properly, which led to a lot of cracked tiles.

 

I'll sell you my DJI phantom 2+ if you like. Once I get it back from the Secret Service.

 

I'll be changing the kitchen floor for the second time in a year so it sounds like you have a house just like mine. Only bigger, because it's in America.
