    Well, it looks like the Massively Multi-Player Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) which we are all going to play (you are going to play, aren't you?) has some competition. Just announced:

    Middle Earth Online

    Playable races are Elves, Men, Dwarves and Hobbits. Everyone will be banding together to help defeat the dark lord, Sauron. And before the 501st asks, no, it doesn't look like you can play an orc. :)

    My question is: most of these games (EQ, AC, etc.) are kind of open-ended, and you can play for years. I guess they would have to set the timeline before the events in the books? It will be interesting to see how this develops.

    It was just announced and it's coming out next year? Isn't that... not much time spent on it? :confused:



    But yeah, some of the screens look pretty. :D

    Well, "Half Life 2" was just announced, yet it's coming out in September and looks to be stunning. That would be the difference between "announced" and "started working on". HL2 has been in production for several years, but it has been a secret.
