Have a little fun with this quiz on What Kind of Star Wars Fan Are You?

    No surprise here:

    You are a Basher!

No one knows why exactly you're in Star Wars fandom, hanging around for hours on major message boards talking about how much you hate everything about the storyline, performances, direction, and special effects. But you know for sure that you're the only *true* fan--the others are just Lucas-worshipping sheep. These movies had the potential to be great, if only they'd been something, you know, *different.* Cooler. You hate everything wrought by George Lucas, and think he should hand the reins to the makers of The Matrix or Lord of the Rings before he does anymore damage.

    You are a Classic Fan!

Some questions were a toss up. Padme v Leia was tough. But then I realized I like Padme more for her costumes than her character ;) And the favorite Jedi question was not fair. I would have said both original and prequel Obi-Wan (I don't think Lucas messed his character up - but the option forced me to say so).

    You are a Classic Fan!

You don't have anything special *against* the Prequels, but they'll never do it for you like the Classic Trilogy. I mean, the farmboy, the scoundrel, the princess, the Dark Lord... nothing can ever, EVER compete with that.

Personally, I don't understand how you can have "basher" and "fan" in the same sentence.

    You are a Saga Fan!

You love the Star Wars saga from beginning to end--the rise and fall of Anakin Skywalker, the corruption and redemption of the galaxy, the carefully woven mythic themes... you make no distinction among the various movies, and consider it one, long, wonderful and amazing story.

Sounds about right. Empire and Sith are my 1 and 2. Shows the kind of guy I am. You will never hear me bash Star Wars ever, this includes the pre's. At any given moment, at any given time or mood, I can sit and watch any of them, (maybe EP 1 less than the others)... Still, any of them. Plus, this quiz was worded for just your average Joe or Jane. Not ?fans?.

This quiz is rather lame. Says I'm basher... I'd say I'm an overall specialist... Some of those EU oriented questions were from the original Thrawn Trilogy. For best battle they should have went for something like Rogue Squadron fights against the Super Star Destoryer Lusankya with all the allies the got through hella sick means aka the Battle of Thyferra.

It says I'm a Classic Fan. But I agree with Ming, some of those questions were pretty lame.

Wow, I'm a classic fan, I didn't care for the way some of the questions were directed. But I seem to be in the majority. LOL

You are an Expanded Universe Fan!

You've seen the movies, sure, but the real action is in the books. I mean, how weak is Vader when compared to someone like Grand Admiral Thrawn? And Leia pales beside Mara Jade. How could such mediocre movies have spawned such great books? And if the movies contradict them, then the answer is simple--the EU is the final word in the matter for you.

That quiz was mean...it was hard to find the non-basher answers in there! :(

I'm an EU specialist and even I didn't get this category.

Like most quizes, it's not perfect. I'd just asnwer more questions that you know can lean toward the EU, Tenken.

I'm a basher. I would have been surprised if I was found to NOT be a basher, however. :p

Yeah I could have answered the "EU" choices if they provided answered that were worth choosing. Like I don't think Talone Karrde is cooler than Han Solo. He's an neat character but not that great. So the questioning was rather lame but the answers were not as complete as they should be.

Yeah, as it can be with any survey - the results are skewed by the way the questions are asked. I got the feeling the quiz was created by a basher [face_laugh]

What kind of Star Wars fan am I? I've already replied to this thread. I'm a night owl. I think people are more than a few words. We become what our life experiences make us. And so, I will write, however pointless and a waste of time probably, what kind of fan I am of Star Wars.

I think I was 3 or 4 when I asked my dad to take me to see a Star Wars movie. I wanted to see 'Star Wars'. I don't know if I knew there was one called The Empire Strikes Back. I did see The Empire Strikes Back at some point during its initial release, but my memory is so foggy that I don't remember more than snow, and R2 and 3PO. I saw it at the drive-in tho. That much I know... but when I was hounding my dad the point was just to see a Star Wars at the theater. My dad said he would take me if I heard it was playing. I took this to mean the John Williams score, if I heard it playing! And then later I imagined so hard I felt I could actually hear the music playing and asked dad if we could go. Crazy kid, give a preschooler a break. But if you weren't a kid old enough back then to go to the movies with your friends sans adult, you were one of the younger kids, that idolizes everything the older kids are into. And you think they know ALL. So besides the fact that Star Wars is fun for kids of any age, I think this was a strong recruiting factor for the rugrats.

But I remember Return of the Jedi much better. Somehow in 1983 it was still a rare occurance for my parents to take me to the movies. I have a feeling, although I never asked them this, that they were of the mindset too many younger kids disrupted movies when they shouldn't be there cause they were not mature enough to hold it in and sit there and enjoy the movie. Just didn't have the attention span for it yet. As an adult now I can't say I disagree. Like seeing theatre in England if you are English compared to loud gum smacking Americans watching the same theatre and getting frowns from the Brits. So, I begged my dad, and after going to see it himself with his best friend's kids who were older, he agreed to take me. So, even though it was the 3rd film, and therefore not truly 'original', Jedi still meant something back then as far as I can remember. It had been out for a while and in my hometown the line was still very long a few weeks at least after opening on a Saturday afternoon.

One big point to the movies back then is that they somehow had a different feel surrounding them. People had VCRs, but not too many people had them yet. Not so much information out there about films before they were released. Maybe if you had access to a Starlog, but that was only a smidge of info compared to what's out there now. Not hundreds of channels on tv or cable for that matter, if you were one of the lucky ones who got cable...let alone if you lived in an area that made cable available to the community. And I won't even get into the internet. So, movies are obviously still huge events at times today (Superman Returns, Batman Begins, Potter films, POTC etc.), but there was a different magical hugeness to them then because they retained some sense of the unknown, and there were not so many avenues of entertainment as there are now. They were extra special if a good one came down the pike.

This is why I so badly want to see 5-25-77. To see one person's memory of what '77 was like on film, since I couldn't witness it myself. That's why I was so happy to see A New Hope Special Edition in '97. Even though I later decided I didn't like the changes made to the movie. I was just longing for a real experience of seeing Star Wars in the theater that was not a foggy memory.

That's it for my 'what kind of Star Wars fan are you?'. Even though it may seem to be pointless. Whatever. I'm sure everyone else has their own, original story that made them the fan they are today. And not one is better than another. We are all Star Wars fans even if we don't agree. [face_peace]

    Sometimes I wonder if I even like Star Wars anymore. Geez, I'm all Star Wars'd out! [face_tired] 8-}
