What makes Wayland such an exclusive, hidden location?

Was it because it was not on any commercial hyperlanes or trade routes? Or did a space anomoly hide it?

Wayland was a codename that the Emperor gave the planet... what was the planet's true name?

It does not appear on any star charts.
No one knew about it besides a select few.

Like no one knows it's location and it's not on any starmaps.

Then if no one knew it, why did it need a codename then?

The Emperor just called it Wayland. There's no indication whether that's it's original name or one he made up. Mara doesn't know, and nobody else mentions it IIRC.

Maybe he gave it a codename first and then [rip-off]erased the files from the archives[/rip-off] :p

I am 110% positive that WAYLAND is a codename... so it must have an original name. Then if it has an original name, and it has to be hidden, then logic dictates that it should be a known planet.

"It was on a world he called Wayland...I don't even know if it had a proper name."

Perhaps it was never named- survey ship notes planet in system. Bunch of colonists jump in, settle, never bother to leave or communicate name of planet.

What's odd is apparently there's Psadans running around the galaxy during the prequel era, perhaps the Psadans living on Wayland are a colony of another world? That would make sense.

So maybe there are planets in the Republic called Myneyrsh and Psada?

How can anyone hide a planet? Kinda big. Can't exactly throw a tarp over it.

Especially since you can see planets from other planets.

And in any case the planet orbited a star which could not be hidden.

I think the most likely reason is it was a gated community.
