My new rock-goddess is Mary Prankster.

I'm listening to her songs Blue Skies, Mercy ****, and Tits and Whiskey (if I can't say that word, just edit it :p ).

My friend's band has opened for her twice in the last two weeks (has had me driving all over the area (driving everywhere between D.C. and Philly).

    Disco Stu: Worst Band Ever

    Simpsons-based punk band? Kick ass!

We Do, Seven Short Songs About Springfield, Die, Bad Robots, Die!, and Spread your Legolas.

Ah, the life of a roadie. :p

"Komm Susser Todd" which translates from German (though its a Japenese song) as "come sweet death".

I first heard it during the movie "end of evangelion" just as the third impact (armageddon basically) is happening. It's wierd in that it's increadibly depressing song sung very happily, almost like pop style. looking through the forums discussing the song I've found such great quotes about it such as

    "It's the happy suicide song"

...it's almost like its saying; Death is fun. Come on everybody, wouldn't it be fun if we all slit out wrists?"

    "The Happy Song of Death"

"a suicide song the whole family can sing along too"

Which isn't really surprising given its from a film for which the tag line is "Wouldn't it be nice if everyone just died" ....still, great movie and still up there as one of the best ever animes.

That's one ****ed up movie, but it's certainly one of the best animes I've seen. The music in it is magnificent too, but I still say the Bebop soundtrack beats it hands down. :p

Right now I'm listening to Starlight by The Supermen Lovers.

of late I've been listening to,

    The Von Bondies
    The Yeah Yeah Yeahs
    The Strokes
    The Waifs
    The Eagles of Death Metal
    Jet
    Ash
    and
    Eskimo Joe

(gotta love all these 'The' bands) :D

Oh and if we're talking pro-suicide songs then I should mention the theme from M*A*S*H, 'Suicide is Painless'. (suprisingly they left the lyrics out of the tv show version :p )

It's not really pro suicide....it's just if you listen to the lyric closely you can get really really depressed. but anyway it's "the happy suicide song" ;)

    Eskimo Joe!!!!!!!!

I'm VERY excited because they are FINALLY releasing their second album on Monday, 17th May. I am so buying is as soon as I can. I love Eskimo Joe, but then that's probably why they call me Eskimo Jess...

Anyway, I picked up the latest MoS Chillout - Sessions 5. Current track is As The Rush Comes - Gabriel & Dresden Chillout Mix by Motorcycle, pretty nice relaxing stuff. I'm seriously looking forward to Monday as not only is Eskimo Joe's new cd out YAY, but my favourite English geezer, Mike Skinner, AKA The Streets is releasing his second album. Has anyone heard "Fit But You Know It?" I died laughing the first time I heard it! It's brilliant! And the clip for it is pretty funny too.

I'm a huge Eskimo Joe fan myself, there new album is awesome from what I've heard so far. I saw them at Homebake in Sydney a couple years back and they rocked.

'From the Sea' is on high rotation on the PC at the moment :D

Ah, Komm, susser Tod, such a great song. Listening to it now. I cry each time I'm watching that scene, where Shinji just snaps and starts strangling Asuka and the song starts playing.

It's so sad, yet it's one of my favorite songs that I listen to every day.
