SNG What name should we use for Fan Force Singapore?

Looks like we're going to be the "KopiTiam" soon

 

Can I make a little suggestion?

'Jedi Kopi-Tiam' sounds more like the name of a place rather than a group, so I'm wondering whether we can combine two names, so that this forum is called 'Jedi Kopi-Tiam' and the name of our group is something else, e.g. Jedi Kopi-Tiam: The Leo Force. Something like that.

Jedi-KopiTiam reminds me of the coming soon Mediacorp's Kopi-Oh 2...

Or I can imagine Yoda and Mace sitting at Kopi-Tiam reading Shin Ming and Wanbao, shaking legs, while Aunt Beru wear the Tiger Beer shoulder strap and serves ice cold TIGER beer to the Masters while adjusting his spaghetti strips.

Down a few stalls, Anakin and Padme making WanTon Mee and Obi-Wan chops his Chicken drumstick for his Hainanese Chicken Rice with great patient! Ooo did I see Emperor Palpatine queuing up in singlets and shorts across the road buying TOTO? And auntie Mon Mothma fighting with Auntie Jocastu over 2 Chye Sims at the market!

Personally I think Jedi Kopitiam is nice. A location. Like the Jedi's kopitiam around the corner.

The reason why Jedi Kopi-Tiam doesn't work is nobody outside Singapore will know what it is. You have to explain it everytime. That's not a name's purpose, a name must at least show something of the group.

Jedi Kopi-Tiam is cute, we can use it as a nickname, but it can't be an offical name.

That's my two cents.

 

Pls dun get me wrong tmingyang... the "we" was referring to those who voted for "kopitiam"... Please don't get this the wrong way

 

All the more we should have our own identity

 

For me, I like 'Jedi Kopi-Tiam' because it's Singaporean. I don't think the term 'kopi-tiam' exists outside of Singapore (feel free to correct me on this). I looked through some of the other FanForces' names. FanForce Netherlands does not have an English name, but that makes it all the more 'Netherlands-ish'.

I like Faiz's suggestion.

Faiz's idea is good, but wouldn't it make the title too long?

 

I feel that by having a unique name, we can generate interest in our fanforce and probably it will help other people remember that there is such a place as singapore.
If you all want Jedi Kopi-tiam, den we beta standardize the defination of kopi-tiam...

Well, when we get round to control this board (add new links, close down threads if nessecary ONLY!) and make our own FanForce Website, we can put up the defination of "Kopi-Tiam" or other Singapore slangs we use.

That is also if visitors here knows how this Board functions and knows where the FAQ Link is always placed.

 

What if 4 days later that is when poll ends...and singaforce collected the most number of votes, will it become official? I guess so right, since the com has already shortlisted the potential names before they are putting up for polling.

Now that the results having been finalised, we have a tie with Jedi Kopi-Tiam and SingaForce. As of such a circumstance, let's all decide whether how we should handle this draw. Would you guys and gals prefer a combined name , or either one of these two?
