I'm going to bust out the 80s stuff today (Simple Minds, Yello etc) in memory of John Hughes.

I've been caning the new ROOT! album Surface Paradise over the last fortnight. It's overtaken Tex Perkins' 70s/80s tribute as album of the year by a mile (this might be indicative of either really good or really bad taste... ;) ). It's reached #4 on the Aussie Indie Charts this week...yeah!

Pulling A Piano From A Pond - Cinematic Sunrise

So I went and saw Craig Owens @ fowlers friday night (leader singer of cinematic sunrise & chiodos), and he played us an unplugged and very intimate show. Even though he was being told to wrap it up, he played us one last song, and it was a song he'd written for his wife, who just happened to be there that night. Here's a video of it that a mate of mine recorded which turned out really well.

This isn't any of that rarr rarr raaaaargh stuff, this is just a very talented man with an amazing voice. I urge any of you to have a listen to his work.

TISM finally have the bulk of their material on iTunes. Some 'new' tracks that haven't been heard before (or at least in the form that is available as bonus tracks). BOH!

This Is Serious Mum on iTunes

Shut Up, The Footy's On The Radio (21st Century Remix) - TISM

Rerecorded as the intro to Triple M radio's footy stuff this year. Available via iTunes, as are the originals (which are better), but it's interesting to have a new TISM recording (of sorts) in 2010.
