Heh, On my Yahoo! station, I just heard "Fade to Black" and was going to post that one.

Even though "Master of Puppets" is about drugs, it fits because Anakin's drug is power.

    Ohhhhh..."Damage, Inc." is PERFECT!

ooh, i know has anyone mentioned the song 'let me go' by 3 doors down...that would fit anakin's feelings

So far, I haven't seen any mention of what I think would be two very obvious choices:

"No More Mr. Nice Guy" - Alice Cooper
"Search and Destroy" - Iggy (Pop) and the Stooges

I was also thinking about "Daddy's Speeding," by (the London) Suede, although that would probably more effective at depicting Luke's point of view about Anakin. (Just as a side note: "Daddy's Speeding" was actually inspired by James Dean, which is really interesting in light of George Lucas' comments regarding Hayden Chrsistensen's 'sullen' quality in one of the featurettes on the AOTC bonus disc!)

Another really good choice would be "In My Darkest Moment" by Hanoi Rocks, from their recent comeback disc "Twelve Shots on the Rocks." Off the top of my head I'm also thinking "Fell on Black Days" by Soundgarden. (Or, come to think of it, almost half of the songs on their "Superunknown" disc!)

By the way, has anyone heard A Perfect Circle's cover of Joni Mitchell's "Fiddle and the Drum" on their recent covers disc "eMotive"? Check it out and see if the words sung to "dear Johnny" couldn't be equally applicable to Anakin!

This is going ot sound crazy but i would choose "Lux Aeterna" in "Requiem for a dream.' It's a sad song probably it should be used for the Order 66 part than "Anakin's betrayal."

If anyone has seen "Wicked" the musical, they would see some striking little similarities between it and the star wars prequels. I would say that the song that best fit Anakin would be "No Good Deed Goes Unpunished" by Idina Menzel. Here are the lyrics:

    ELPHABA (Anakin)
    Fiyero! (Padme)
    (sung) Eleka nahmen nahmen
Ah tum ah tum eleka nahmen
    Eleka nahmen nahmen
Ah tum ah tum eleka nahmen (Here she is casting a spell, as she is a witch, and Anakin is a jedi)

Let his flesh not be torn
Let his blood leave no stain
    Though they beat him
    Let him feel no pain
    Let his bones never break
    And however they try
    To destroy him
    Let him never die:
    Let him never die: (duh)

    Eleka nahmen nahmen
Ah tum ah tum eleka nahmen
    Eleka nahmen nahmen
Ah tum ah tum eleka: eleka:(more spell casting)

    What good is this chanting?
    I don't even know what I'm reading!
I don't even know which trick I ought to try
    Fiyero, where are you?
    Already dead, or bleeding?
One more disaster I can add to my
    Generous supply?

    Unlimited
    The damage is unlimited
To everyone I've tried to help
    Or tried to love
And, oh, Fiyero, you're the latest
    Victim of my greatest achievement
In a long career of distress
Every time I could, I tried making good
And what I made was a mess!

    No good deed goes unpunished
No act of charity goes unresented
    No good deed goes unpunished
    That's my new creed
    My road of good intentions
Led where such roads always lead
    No good deed
    Goes unpunished!

    Fiyero
    Fiyero!!

    One question haunts and hurts
Too much, too much to mention:
    Was I really seeking good
    Or just seeking attention?
Is that all good deeds are
When looked at with an ice-cold eye?
If that's all good deeds are
    Maybe that's the reason why

    No good deed goes unpunished
All helpful urges should be circumvented
    No good deed goes unpunished
    Sure, I meant well -
Well, look at what well-meant did (trying to save Padme actually kills her in the end)
All right, enough - so be it
    So be it, then!:
    Let all Oz be agreed
    I'm wicked through and through
    Since I can not succeed
    Fiyero, saving you
    I promise no good deed
Will I attempt to do again
    Ever again
    No good deed
Will I do again! (And he becomes evil.)

    Cool, huh?

PS - This musical rocks. And Mark Hamill has been quoted as loving it and going to see it "all the time"

Dave Matthews Band- The Stone (READ THE LYRICS!!)

    I've this creeping
    Suspicion that things are not
    as they seem
    Reassure me
Why do I feel as if I'm in too deep
    I've been praying
For some way to show them
    I'm not what they see
    Yes I have done wrong
But what I did I thought
    needed be done
    I swear
    Unholy day
If I leave now I might get away
    This weighs on me
As heavy as stone and as blue as I go

    I was just wondering if
    you'd come along
To hold up my head when my head
    won't hold on
I'll do the same if the same's
    what you want
    If not I'll go
    I will go alone
    I'm a long way
    From that fool's mistake and
    now forever pay

    No, run
I will run and I'll be ok
    I was just wondering if
    you'd come along
To hold up my head when my head
    won't hold on
I'll do the same if the same's
    what you want
    If not I'll go
    I will go alone
    I need so
To stay in your arms, see you smile, hold you close
    And it weighs on me
    As heavy as stone and
    a bone chilling cold
    I was just wondering if
    you'd come along
    Tell me you will

Yeah I think "Lux Aeterna" from "Requiem for a dream" is the right choice. It's pretty sad and heartbreaking to listen to but it would fit in. Anyone agree?

Actually, 'Gollum's Song' from the Two Towers soundtrack fits really damn well.

    "Where once was light
    Now darkness falls
    Where once was love
    Love is no more
    Don't say goodbye
    Don't say I didn't try

    These tears we cry
    Are falling rain
For all the lies you told us
    The hurt, the blame!
And we will weep to be so alone
    We are lost
    We can never go home

    So in the end
I'll be what I will be
    No loyal friend
    Was ever there for me

    Now we say goodbye
    We say you didn't try

    These tears you cry
    Have come too late
    Take back the lies
    The hurt, the blame!

    And you will weep
When you face the end alone
    You are lost
    You can never go home
    You are lost
    You can never go home"

Damn it, TomPiltoff, you beat me to it! :)
Gollum's Song is indeed the perfect one. It makes me so sad to sing it while thinking of Anakin. More so than thinking of Sméagol, actually.

I know the feeling. You know what's even more amazing? I think the harmonies in Gollum's Song fit very well with the mood in the Mustafar section of ROTS. I don't know if Williams was inspired by Shore, but it's possibly and even likely. I mean, why would the great composers not take inspiration from eachother?

Man, I gotta go see this movie again

I find that CKY's "Flesh Into Gear" is a good song to describe Anakin. I bolded the parts that I felt were most descriptive.

i can't expect you to see
    me when i'm not around
    and my voice is destroyed
    by confinement of sound
    i'm a human machine
    laced with hidden disease
    if the future looks bleak
    then you're connected to me

    flesh into gear

    myself appears dissected and pretentious
a simple sound a heavy sigh
you'll win the whole world over
you'll live in fear of being someone that you didn't want to
i realize your insecurities will get the best of you

    a traitor's embrace
    how foolish how wrong

    contained in one place
    anxiety spawns
    unopened reowned
    what's needed upscaled
    digested inhaled
    unwilling unwound

    flesh into gear
    myself appears dissected and pretentious
a simple sound a heavy sigh
you'll win the whole world over
you'll live in fear of being someone that you didn't want to
i realize your insecurities will get the best of you

    flesh into gear
