    Dumb and Dumber?

Obi-Wan as Lloyd, Anakin as Harry?

I think star wars in general needs some kind of reference to 2001.

I would love a shot of a lightsaber being hurled in the air like the bone in 2001.

it could be as subtle as a monolith in the jedi temple or the senete.

or a guy in a space port in a suit like dave bowman wore in 2001.

I loved the pod in wattos junk shop.

you may laugh but I want a very subtle nod to the old sci fi films. a tiny little digital string should be visable for only a breif second above a planet.

most of you will say thats just plain dumb. but thats whay I like it. won't happen but it would be funny.

    I really like this thread.

i think that the original post omitted this movie reference.

yoda discussing how the Geanosis battle was not a victory because it started a war scene equals the last scene in seven samurai...

    same scene to me...

    edited for clarity:
forgive me for my impetious posting...

I had to read that post 6 times to understand what your saying. but yeah your right. the ending of AOTC is in the same light as the ending of seven samuri.

I said it eiler I would love for mace to go down much like tashiro mifune did in seven samuri. very heroic, tragic and dramatic. not like some punk.

or the final battle of the clone war could look like the battle in RAN lasers instead of arrows. very storng image. the bodies!!

    too bloody for star wars

Maybe Crounching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. It had some nice swordfighting scenes.

    How about "Dark Star"?
A background alien character looking like a huge strawberry with duckfeet.

I'd like to see a shot very similar to the climax of Wrath of Khan, where the Enterprise rises up from behind the Reliant, surprising her.

Why not? Have you seen Wrath of Khan? That shot is amazing and would work perfectly and would be fresh in a Star Wars space battle.

You don't have to, though, it's just recreating a shot.

Ooo, I think a lightsaber/2001 scene would be cool, but the pace of 2001 is totally the opposite of what Lucas shoots for.

    OK, how about:

    - Cool Hand Luke: Palpy: "What we have here is... failure to communicate."

    - The Bad News Bears: John Williams can work in The Torreadors somewhere, can't he?

    - The Godfather: Everyone who dies must have an orange near them in a prior scene.

    - Field Of Dreams: Anakin hears the voice of Qui-Gon tell hiim, "If you build it, they will come."

    - E. T.: Anakin rides his speederbike across the backdrop of the moon.

    - The Wizard Of Oz: Anakin, Padme, Obi-Wan and Yoda must defeat the Witch of the West (Tyranus) on their way to the great city of Coruscant, where they seek out the great and powerful Oz (Palpy) to deliver them from the Clone Wars. A nice "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!" thrown in for good measure when they discover who Sidious is.

    - The Man With The Golden Gun: Dooku. Superfluous nipple. Nuf said.

I want to see a refrence to the old Bogart films. Maltise Falcon, or Key Largo... not casablanca, too popular... But one of the other ones that would be nice.

and as far as Trek goes... we don't serve their kind here.

How about a little Usual Suspects , several background Jedi die, and Mace or Yoda ask AnaVader what he knows about it. He tells them that he knows nothing about it, and after he leaves Mace/Yoda begin to practice with their lightsaber, realize what happens, and drop their lightsaber, while Sid picks up AnaVader in a black stretch jet and they both leave. Doable?

A Magnificent Seven reference would be interesting in light of the fact that it was a remake of The Seven Samurai, which as we all know Lucas was influenced by.
