Axe, you forgot to include one choice on your poll: All of the Above. That would be my choice.

I think we do enough bull-sessions, especially those of us who usually hang out at our place on a Fri. night. I believe we should spend more time delineating who does what, what things we're about, and why we should or shouldn't do certain things. For example: There is some confusion about the "no-alcohol" policy during meetings and conventions for when meetings begin and end.
When most of us who were in KLAW,(a Klingon-based group) for example, there was always alcohol flowing, meetings never started or ended "on time"...however, people never hardly interrupted each other because there was a strict isogenic(1) chain of command.
The Fandom Menace has more of a "production company"/less military pecking order for conducting club business and as such lends itself to more project-based decision making. We don't even exact dues from our members. (1) There's never enough $ in any treasury to do anything a group wants to do (2) Only people who actually CAN and DO participate are expected to "chip in"! We (we're referring to people drinking age and all) adopted a no food or alcohol policy during meetings exclusively to preclude rude and non-essential interruptions during meetings in order to have everyone's attention without having to repeat everything, to see who's speaking without a bunch of people walking by, and so forth. However,if somebody is of legal drinking age and wants to have a drink or two on their day off before partaking of the "serious business" of playing Star Wars, more power to them...just don't be a disruption at the meeting or you'll have to answer to the Sergeant-at Arms and later to the Membership Committee! The times for meetings are generally accepted as "arrival times"...so the hosts aren't caught in their underwear when you reach the door! Meetings begin....well...when everybody's ready! We appreciate people taking time out of their busy schedules to accommodate meetings, especially when they're not the ones with the day off. However, we all pretty much aggreed at the first meeting of the new administration that we would meet every third Sat. of the month. Efforts are definitely appreciated and experience points ARE earned for attendance, but it would be a good idea if members wouldn't "pigeonhole" meetings where possible, get comfortable, and plan to spend a few hours playing Star Wars! The "meeting" is only the "official business" of the club. The "Fandomenace Experience" is what goes on afterward. That doesn't mean we can't take a more serious tone with things...in fact, it's less "time-driven" ...when our creative energies can just flow.......... :)

    See eveybody next week,

    Axe

(1)referring to a club system in which roleplay ranks directly relate to official club status without any differentiation between player and character other than names.

Hey Axe...I go for the LARP (Live Action Role Play) It will help a lot of people get into their character so that they can figure out more what their character would do in a given situation. Besides...We could always have a Droid Tossing contest as part of the LARPing...:)

Senator, we can toss droids as long as they aren't any of Beenca's.

Humm what about combining the LARPing and mall runs together? Not only do they get into charactor, can also recruit more people into the Fandom Menance group. ;-)
