Hannibal was NOT scary, why they changed the rating to "R" I will never understand.

I haven't seen it but from what I've heard, there was only 1 scene that really gave it the R rating.

It's more of a thriller that'll keep you guessing throughout. Like the first one.

    Planet of the Apes!!!!!
    "Bow your head!"

Saw a bit of a trailer for it on ET today. Apparently they are going to run the whole thing on "Friday", which of course means Monday here. Someone wanna tape it?

Setting myself up for disappointment by getting too excited about it though... I don't think it will be cerebral enough to take on the whole Science vs Religion thing that the first one (and none of the sequels) did so well.

Well that's one movie that I'm not excited about. I don't know why but for some reason I just don't think that particular movie needs a remake. I can't help thinking that remaking Planet of the Apes will spoil it somehow. Almost like trying to do a remake of Ben Hur or something similar (I just rememberred that Charlton Heston stars in both of those movies but the connection wasn't intentional).
In any case, I don't have any particular interest in seeing that one.

If the links don't work copy the URL and paste it into the address bar in your browser. That usually works 99/100 (as long as the URL is correct)

The mummy 2 looks good, I just saw a quick ad for it. Comes out in June here.

I just watched Taxi Driver (De Niro, Jodie Foster) I heard it was a good movie but I couldn't really get into it. I was expecting some blood and guts movie but it never came.

TD is a classic. It's a top performance and excellent directing plus it had the blood and guts at the end. Pretty confronting at times too. Especially for back then. 13 year old prostitutes and all.

    It's a ***** for me.

The black girl at the bar in the movie theatre was his wife for some time in real life too. Just some trivia.

Now get Raging Bull to see an even better acting performance.

I watched the Making of it afterwards (on DVD) and it made more sense to me then but I shouldn't have to watch the making of for that to happen. May be I was a little harsh.

I've just seen the 2nd trailer and a Tim Burton interview for Planet of the Apes, this is not a remake, but a reimagining if you will, the visuals just left me absolutely floored.
Also, having read the original 1962 french novel a few years ago (Monkey Planet), it seems that this film is going to be more along the lines of the novel, not the Charlton Heston movie.
And I see no problem with old ideas being remade anyway, so long as they are of a quality standard.
The original was a great film, but if a new version makes anyone who is new to PotA pick up the original novel or watch the original film, then it's all good.
Anyway it beats new Pauly Shore movies. His films are now so exclusive, you need a boarding pass to see them.

Must be exclusive. I don't know who Paulie Shore is. I take it I'm not missing anything.

Paulie Shore was the comedy relief in Encino Man.

    "WICKKK-ED!!!!"

He's also in numourous Limp Bizkit film clips.

That explains the lack of recognition. All I remember about Encino Man is that it was the first movie I saw Brendon Fraser in.
