Today I bought the soundtrack from The Graduate for a very low price. I love Simon and Garfunkel and I think it will be nice to finally have a few of my favorite songs by them on vinyl.

The last album I bought was Bruce Dickinson's A Tyranny of Souls, his first solo album since re-joining Iron Maiden. It's a great album, btter than his last effort, The Chemical Wedding, which was pretty good also. It's also better than the last Maiden album, Dance of Death, even though I have been a Maiden fan from way back in the early 80's.

I have to mention one thing here. Someone earlier compared being a DJ for some hip-hop group to being a drummer. Umm...no. There is no comparison. I have been playing drums for 23 years, and even though I don't believe this is what you intended, I am somewhat insulted by this comparison. Again, I don't think the person who wrote that intended to insult any musician. I have a friend who is a DJ in some amalgam band of metal and rap, and even he doesn't consider DJing to be playing an instrument. It's an effect, not even close to the same as an instrument. And yes, from watching him, both playing live and the preparations he has to go through, I know it's an involved process, but it's nowhere near the same as learning to play an instrument. And I'm not trying to insult anyone who likes hip-hop, (although I personally LOATHE it,) but I couldn't let that comment go by without some sort of response.

The last album I bought was DJ Vadim's USSR: Life From The Other Side. I've got a few of his tracks already on some Ninja Tune compilations, so I thought I'd get one of his albums and I got this as it was second hand. Not a bad album at all, tho not exactly mind-blowing. I've also got Bonobo's Animal Magic and Kinobe's (no, not me ;)) Wide Open albums in the post. Loved Bonobo's last album Dial 'M' For Monkey, and heard this older one's just as good, and I thought Kinobe's previous two albums were pretty good too.

Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band ~ The Beatles.

It was a few days ago, I had the intention of buying "All Things Must Pass" by George Harrison, but it wasn't in stock at Borders. So I went for Sgt Peppers, a great album. Just fantastic music.

Bought a few today, all cheapos:

Prefuse 73 - Surrounded By Silence
    DJ Food - Kaleidoscope
Zen RMX: Ninja Tune Recordings Remix Retrospective
De La Soul - De La Soul Is Dead

Been meaning to get De La Soul Is Dead on CD for ages, and apparently the guy put it on the shelf only moments before I bought it, so it was a good job I didn't get there a few minutes earlier. :)

Iannis Xénakis' Pléïdes. The composition is polyrhythmic music for percussion instruments. The music is similar to Indonesian gamelan with the contrasting percussive timbres.
