Honestly, the first few books after WFR are fine. Not as good as WFR, but not bad, either. The problem is that while WFR works as a standalone, none of the others have any closure, practically forcing you into each subsequent book just to get closure on the storyline... and then the last three books are awful.

Lately I've bought a few books that I have been looking for quite awhile. They include Lynn Flewelling's Nightrunner series and part one of Brandon Sanderson's The way of kings (the UK paperback edition is split into two parts).

I recently bought 'The Lost Labrynth' by Will Adams. I'm not certain if it quite fits into the sci-fi/fantasy realm, but it is about finding the golden fleece, so I figured it's close enough. All in all, it wasn't bad. It was fast paced, had a really hateable bad guy, and had archaeology- which is something I'm always interested in. Does anyone know of any other novels about archaeology?

If you like Indiana Jones there are some adult novels that came out around the late 1990s. Amazon would be your best shot for these. I've read a few of them and I liked what I read.

There's also some pretty decent Indiana Jones comics from the '80s that are getting rereleased in omnibus format now. Actually just read the Further Adventures volume 2. :)

I love Indiana Jones! In fact, I just watched all the movies and some of the Young Indy series the other week ago. But, I never have read the books or comics. I'll have to check them out, thanks for the info.

Alright, so I sucked it up and got Way of Kings for the Kindle. You guys convinced me to give Sanderson another chance.

But I've got Under Heaven to finish and then Mieville's new one Embassytown to read first.

    Sounds good JS.

I bought books 1-7 of the Saga of Recluce and Legend, all for $20. They are all MMPB and have about one read's wear to them.

Picked up some of the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant books at a used bookstore a week ago. Might be a little bit before I start reading them, though.

I just Finished Leviathan Wakes by James S.A. Corey ISBN 978-0-316-12908-4

    thought it was very good.

Its a space opera bases in the not so near future the solar system has not attained FTL, but have attained cheap commercial interplanetary travel. It uses two points of view that of a down and out cop and an idealistic space ship XO, to solve a mystery in a background of war between the Astroid Belt, Mars and Earth..
