I just watched "Hardbodies" because it was free on Crackle. It was dumber than dirt but it had a lot of boobs in it. That still didn't make up for the fact that it was ridiculously stupid.

So Awesome. We need more combinations of art and action. Loved the music, story, style, ideas, performances, etc. Loved everything about it. Reminded me a lot of the old Western SHANE. Also loved the homage to Michael Myers.

Probably one of my favorite scenes is hte one where the the Driver and the boy are watching a cartoon with a Shark. The Driver, while smiling, ask if the Shark is the bad guy? The boy says yes. The Driver ask,"How can you tell?" The boy says,"because he's shark." The Driver's smile fades away with that. He himself is a shark. I just love commentary on what makes a man good or bad. Is he both, he is neither, or is he just a man?

Anyway. I watched VANISHING POINT yesterday. It really built into something with great ideas and much to dwell on in terms of the ending. I've pretty much gone with the thought that the ending isn't so much a downer. Kowalski broke through the barricade and made it to freedom.

The Master. Hofmann is great as always and it looks gorgeous other than that I really didn't like it. C-

Wreck-it Ralph. Ahhh, the nostalgia. I loved the Marine with the pathfinding error. Well, thinking about it, I loved the whole movie.

Law? Best thing in Wright's Anna Karenina, and in those awful Ritchie Holmes films, and good fun in Soderbergh's Contagion.

I watched Slavery By Another Name-- a "movie" as much as any other documentary even though it's never been in theaters-- on PBS a while ago. It's based on the book of the same title (which I've been meaning to get my hands on), and the author is one of the talking heads. It should've been called Worse Than Slavery, because that's what the program emphasized using both contemporary accounts and the people interviewed for it. Depressing as all hell especially considering its effects are still being felt today, but informative!

Yeah, he was definitely the best thing in that first Holmes movie (I was desperately trying to figure out who "Richie Holmes" was), but I gave the second one a miss. Meant to catch Contagion, but I just didn't get to the theater in time.

I forgot that it was a funny movie that didn't hit all the right butons with me. Jonah Hill's character in most movies is a bit too aggressive for me.

    Saw this last night finally.

I enjoyed it, for reasons similar to yours. Not a Best Picture winner though for me, though.

    GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK

Not the first time I've viewed it, but I was just in the mood to be melancholy, lamenting a time when journalists attempted to achieve more than partisan "news-entertainment".

Just saw Warm Bodies. It was 100% better than I thought it was going to be, and one of the more profound movies I've seen in probably six months or a year. Absolutely loved it.

The Lion in Winter, for the first time in about ten years. God, it's magnificent. Hepburn and O'Toole going back-and-forth is a tremendous pleasure. Anthony Hopkins and Timothy Dalton both get great debuts out of it, with Hopkins's martial Richard getting more screen time, but I was actually most impressed with Dalton's Philip II, whom he infuses with absolute confidence as the observer and manipulator on the margins of the crazy family drama. John Castle's Geoffrey is great, too. An absolutely classic film.
