Rebels: S2, Ep.9 "The Future of the Force" (2015) - Plot; Ahsoka and Kanan race against time to save Force sensitive infants from the Inquisitors.

Interesting premise, but a middling episode until Ahsoka squares off against the two Inquisitors at the end. Ahsoka is not a character I've really warmed to, even as an adult and full fledged Jedi, but she gets a pretty awesome kick (shut your mouth!) moment here that had me grinning. I also really love Sarah Michelle Gellar--like literally--but also as the Seventh Sister. She clearly relishes playing a baddie, and her icy arrogance is deliciously pitch perfect. And she gets a scene with real life hubby Freddie Prinze Jr. Oh Mr. Prinze, how I envy thee. - 7/10

Rebels: S2, Ep.10 "Legacy" (2015) - Plot; Ezra gets a vision of his parents through the Force and sets off to find them.

Ezra-focused episode does help put some lingering story elements to bed (it would seem), but also subsequently opens several new doors for the series to explore. Ezra and Kannan have some nice moments together in a thoughtful, quiet episode that sneaks up on you emotionally. - 7/10

Rebels: S2, Ep.11 "A Princess On Lothal" (2016) - Plot; Senator Leia Organa arranges to deliver much needed supply ships to the Alliance, but she must also publicly distance herself, and Alderaan, from the Rebel movement.

Picking up right where the previous episode left off, "A Princess On Lothal" gets back to basics, but ups the ante because the Princess in question is none other than Leia Organa (Voiced here by Julie Dolan, who does a solid job of capturing a young Carrie Fisher)! It's a pretty by the numbers episode on the margins, but it's all in the execution, and after the more somber "Legacy", this delivers a fun bit of rebellious froth. - 7/10

Rebels: S2, Ep.12 "The Protector of Concord Dawn" (2016) - Plot; Looking for a new hyperspace route to thwart the Empire, the Alliance go to the planet Concord Dawn to ask the permission of the occupying Mandalorians.

I have mixed feelings about demystifying the Mandalores, but on balance I do like seeing their culture fleshed out a bit. Here it's all pretty thin anyway, all bun and no meat, if you get me. The pairing of Kannan and Sabine worked pretty well, with their personalities clashing and complimenting one another in an entertaining way and I wouldn't mind seeing them paired up again in the future. - 7/10

Rebels: S2, Ep.13 "Legends of the Lesat" (2016) - Plot; Zeb is stunned to discover that he is not the last of his kind when he and the crew of the Ghost are tasked with escorting two Lasat refugees to their prophesized new home planet.

We're long overdue for a Zeb-focused episode, but sadly this isn't worthy of him. I've always loved that Zeb is the last of his kind left in the universe. It gave him a really nice pathos that remains as reserved and understated as he is. That said, finding fellow Lesat had some interesting potential that's unfortunately wasted here thanks to cut rate storytelling and a "climax" that doesn't even let us see the culmination of our journey. Ugh. - 5/10

If you didn't get hooked right off the bat it's probably not the show for you. I came on board in between S3 and S4. It became my first instance of "binge watching" before there really was such a term. IMO S1-S4 are the best. After that there's a level of diminishing returns.

Rebels: S2, Ep.14 "The Call" (2016) - Plot; Desperate to acquire fuel for the rebel fleet, the crew of the Ghost attempt to infiltrate an Imperial mining operation while also trying to protect the lives of creatures who have a connection to the fuel they seek.

Two words; Space Whales. The uneven second season of Rebels continues with this weak shrug of an episode. I get that not every episode can focus on the big picture, larger story stuff, but these little sidetracks have become tiresome affairs with absolutely no consequence. It would be forgivable if they were more fun and slipped in a little character development for good measure, but these are flat, ham-fisted stories that just creep along with all of the excitement of waiting in line at the grocery store. - 5/10

Rebels: S2, Ep.15 "Homecoming" (2016) - Plot; The Ghost crew travel to Rylos to recruit Herra's father for a mission to steal an Imperial ship.

I was glad to see Hera--a too often ignored character--get some focus here, but once again it's wasted on an extremely mediocre and unambitious story. The strife with her father runs thimble deep and never resonates, robbing the story of its dramatic backbone. Only some fun Jedi teamwork between Kannan and Ezra serve to add any zest to this otherwise bland episode. - 5.5/10

Ripper Street - series 4 episode 4 I'm a big fan of this Victorian era show. This one was about the murder of a football player for his local iron factory team.

24 was a great show and was ground breaking I think. Don't expect too much differences in the format going forward, just different threats and plot twists, and Jack getting more ruthless too. Fantastic stuff.
