For me it was Rey igniting the lightsaber, everything about it was pure Star Wars, the story telling combined with John Williams epic score really made it for me.

    Whats yours?

Rey igniting the lightsaber didn't feel iconic at all to me, because the lightsaber had already been ignited and used alot previously in the movie. Nevertheless, it was great to see Rey use it.

To me, the most iconic scene was Kylo slaying his father. That was very well executed and the dialogue was perfect.

Kylo killing Han has haunted me for the last two days, so I've got to go with that.

The way Han touched his face... that's when it got to me. Saw the death coming a mile away, but that little moment to me is going to have definite echoes in the sequels.

    There are a few.
    • BB-8's thumbs-up is going to be a major meme for the next several years.
    • Kylo Ren stopping the blaster bolt.
    • Kylo Ren speaking to Darth Vader's helmet.
    • Han's death at the hands of Kylo Ren.
    • The lightsaber zipping past Kylo's hands and into Rey's was probably my favorite "**** yeah!" moment in the film; my theater went nuts for it.
    • Luke's reveal.

Agree it has to be Han's death. The moment he stepped onto the bridge I was filled with dread; it was so well-played by both actors, and even though at that point I saw it coming, it was still such a punch to the gut.

Han and Kylo's confrontation. Or should I say Han and Ben's confrontation. The lighting and cinematography was a triumphant and dramatic example of quintessential Star Warsyness.

    1. The very first shot of Luke overlooking the cliff, wind blowing in his hood. It absolutely took my breath away.
    2. The opening shot and its symbolism. The darkness overtaking the light in the form of a star destroyer and planet respectively.
    3. Han stroking Bens face.
    4. Rey using the force to get the lightsaber.
    5. Going back to the han/ben scene, the shot of han walking towards Ben with the light and dark illuminating him.

The most iconic scene and single moment is when Rey is holding/igniting the lightsaber, immediately after she force-gripped it from Kylo.

Equal Second would be Lukes reveal and the teary look he gave her.
Equal Second for the embrace and look Han gave Kylo just before he fell to his death.

Easily Luke being revealed at the end. To me, Star Wars is the story of Luke Skywalker. Seeing Han, Chewie, the Falcon, and everyone was moving, but I wanted to see Luke Skywalker. As the movie went on I was so worried we were not going to get to see him. That it would end with Rey and Chewie leaving to find Luke. I'm glad they let us get a peak.

The scene where the lightsaber flies to Rey instead of Ren was probably what I'll remember most...

But the scene which got the biggest audience reaction by far was the initial reveal of the Falcon. "What about that ship?" "No its garbage" [First ship blows up] "Ok lets take the garbage ship" and then it pans over and its the Falcon. People were just clapping and cheering and going crazy in that scene

Han's death was the most impactful but the most iconic, ie the one that will be the most famous for years & decades to come is Rey standing there offering the lightsaber to Luke as the camera pans around them both. One of the greatest shots of the Saga IMO. One of my favorite shots ever in any movie.
