So, Yoda and Ben didn't want Luke to leave Dagobah to confront Vader, as his training was not complete. Say he stays, and trains for months, and becomes a TOTALLY SWEET Jedi. So, Luke didn't show at Bespin. Han was given to Boba Fett. Leia is given to Vader and eventually killed (unless he finally realizes who she is, which opens a whole new can of worms!). The rebellion is still fighting and on the run. The Death Star is under construction. Lando is running Bespin. Chewie is a slave or dead. So how do you think Ben and Yoda would have had Luke confront Vader? He can't exactly stroll up to him and ask to duel him. Maybe lure Vader out? Smuggle Luke onto the Death Star in a suicidal last-ditch effort to take out the Emperor and Vader, thus cutting off the head of the Empire for the Rebels? What do you think?

Luke would have flown into the star hanger with his X-Wing. jumped out, and killed over 500 stormtroopers, then fought his way to the throne room. Where he would fight Leia, Vader would kill the Emperor, and they would all live happly ever after. :p

Leia and Chewbacca would have escaped regardless because of Lando. Lando felt bad about what had happened to Han or was rubbed the wrong way by Vader's deception. Perhaps it was a mixure of both that caused him to want to escape.

Luke could have still remained on Dagobah with Yoda and completed every aspect of his training and rejoined a band of rebels who would have lead him to Leia and Chewbacca.... but hold on. Artoo was really the key to reactivating the hyperdrive on the Millennium Falcoln and he couldn't have done that if he remained on Dagobah with Luke. So the tractor beam would have pulled the Falcoln in out in space. And Luke would have been Forced to leave Dagobah and confront Vader anyways...

However, if that were the case, Vader would not have let Lando escort the Princess to his ship alone, he would have done it himself. The only reason he didn't is because he was informed that Luke was approaching.

I do think that Luke would have eventually confronted Vader and the Emperor, and who knows what would have happened then, without Vader being able to play the "sister" card to enrage Luke.

Of course, he could have turned Leia to the dark side by then, which would have been a pretty potent way to try and enrage Luke, but who knows?
