Personally, I really liked his unpolished look from ANH. I dunno... something very menacing about it.

The look in EMPIRE was my fave. I agree that the suit looks great in its "unpolished" form in IV.

I like the ANH helmet best but as for the rest of the suit I like the ESB version. Covering the chest plate with the inner cloak just seems silly to me.

When he enters the Hoth base, my brother and I used to think his helmet was higher off the shoulders, making it seem like he got a 'haircut'! LOL! Oh, to answer the question - Vader just WAS coolest in EPV!

Yeah, ESB Vader was the best, no matter which aspect I look at.

ok I was skimming thru the movies and noticed that Darth Vader's suit from Return of the Jedi is about the same as his ESB suit except that his suit in Return of the Jedi is more shiny and clean looking.

Plus his gloves are just solid black in Empire and Return from what I noticed and the new action figures have his gloves having a vertical lined glove style

yes his suit looks the same in Return of the Jedi as the one in Empire but in Return of the Jedi his suit is really shiny looking and brighter on the chest armor thingy.

Actally, they use different helmets in ROTJ - varying shinyness for different lighting. The opening scene (on the Death Star II) - REALLY shiny! Dark scene w/ Luke on Endor - Benjamin Moore Semi-Gloss Black No. 87.

    I prefer it shinier...

I would say I like all of them equally, but if I had to choose ONE, I would say ESB.

In ANH his suit looks plastic, but I did like the subtle red lenses on the mask.

But my favorite is the ESB suit, I loved the flashy lights on his belt.

When in ESB Vader and the snowtroopers are down in Hoth Base, walking along, trying to catch Solo, Skywalker, and Princess Leia. I just think he looks cool because everything is white, and he's all in black, and he's down there physically trying to track them down. He finally gets to the Falcon and it takes off....

Also hilarious when Han yells at Chewie "What are you doing? I'm trying to get us out of here and you take these apart now?! Put them back on!" [face_laugh]

The beginning of ANH, where we walks in through the smoke of blaster fire and the corridor littered with corpses.

I liked the TESB outfit above all. I never really liked the one in ANH because it seemed to gritty and, obviously, it doesn't match up with the other three films that Vader is in. I also didn't really like the ROTJ one, as I felt it was just too shiny. At the risk of sounding cliche, TESB was "just right".

I like his look in ESB during the Hoth scene. His suit is just shining.
