    - After the October Surprise / D-Day announcement that George Lucas sold his empire it was widely reported that both Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher met with George for lunch last summer. We can now confirm what [in part] was discussed:

"George [Lucas] wanted to know whether we'd be interested. He did say that if we didn't want to do it, they wouldn't cast another actor in our parts – they would write us out
    - Since all three have stated at various times that they'd be intersted, it now seems very likely the Big 3 will appear:

"They're talking to us . . . I can tell you right away that we haven't signed any contracts. We're in the stage where they want us to go in and meet with Michael Arndt, who is the writer, and Kathleen Kennedy, who is going to run Lucasfilm. Both have had meetings set that were postponed -- on their end, not mine. They're more busy than I am . . . And another thing I'd want to make sure of is are we going to have the whole gang back? Is Carrie and Harrison and Billy Dee and Tony Daniels, everybody that's around from the original [returning]? I want to make sure that everybody's on board here, rather than just one. I guess I'll have to tune into your show to figure out who's on board."

Only the mods can do that. There has been discussion about giving this thread a pin, and regularly updating the OP.

Very interesting since the article suggest that the Kasdan and Arndt were hired before the Disney acquisition and as early as June 2012. The scripting was probably done by now and probably a lot of development had been done. That's sort of at odds with Lucas's reluctance to show notes, but it might have just been a negotiating tactic.

Thanks, Pro Scoubdrel! Will UPDATE again! :p

I've said this countless times. I believe that Episode VII is further along than most people think. I think it was screen rant that posted an article AFTER the D-Day announcement that Arndt HAD WRITTEN the story. It was sjust a matter of writing the script which is probably done by now since I would presume he's been writing solid since Oct/Nov -- that gives him 4 months. Also, the info from George is important tengetially since Arndt needed to know who would be coming back for said script.

We've been trying to get this pinned. IMO it's the most informative thread on the site since it provides useful facts and links to various important stories that fill out the mosaic that is Episode VII.
