ST What would get you so mad that you would walk out of Episode VII?

A Luke turned to the Dark Side would be a HUGE mistake. but knowing that Lucas is involved somewhat in the story process allays my fears of that happening. However misguided Lucas has been at times, the core Skywalker arc of redemption is dear to him and he'd never let it be betrayed in such a way as long as he's involved at all.

 

What have people got against Luke turning bad?! I think it's a cool idea. A wizard idea, as some would say! lol

 

Because it invalidates basically the entire structure of the OT, heck even the prequels too because Luke redeems Vader by not turning to the darkside ... all that was basically for nothing if Luke was going to eventually turn to the dark side anyway.

It's kind of a cheap story gimmick too to be honest. You can turn Harry Potter evil, or Spock, or Spider-Man, or whatever. Maybe it even works for a while but it's a little lame in my book. It's a bit of a gimmick. Come up with a good story that doesn't need to wipe out all the character development that people invested in these characters already.

 

Luke going dark would be complete character assassination.

Conflicted with dark thoughts to achieve good? Something different. But to go full on dark side?

Yup, character assassination.

 

Walk out? If this rumor turns out to be true; I'll save my money and not bother even going.

Evil Luke. Ruthless but for good reason Luke-maybe I could go for that. Yoda and Obi-Wan did both want him to kill his father, after all. So if Luke did something very heartless-like sacrificing Han and/or Chewie for a greater good-I could stomach that. Maybe.

I'm really sick of conflicted dark heroes-one reason why Luke was always my favorite was because he was so pure. He faced his temptations and beat them.

 

I stand by the statement that, despite the occassional melodrama, there is no way in hell anyone here would walk out of a Star Wars movie. They may moan and whine and nerdrage online the moment they get home... but no way they're walking out.

I don't get the hatred for Darth Luke. If done correctly, it could be amazing. It also makes sense. His vision in the cave would make more sense. The original idea for the ST was about the nature of good and evil. Is the dark side truly evil? Or were the Jedi misguided all along. No passion, attachments, love, etc. That doesn't sound great to me.
Maybe we'll find out the that balancing the force means the Jedi SHOULD have love and attachments. If Darth Luke is a typical mustache twirling villain I will be disappointed. But I think that if this is true, which I seriously doubt it is, he'll be more complex than a Palpatine.

 

From what I've read, Lucas is still very much involved in the script and plot.

Given his protectiveness over certain characters, I HIGHLY doubt you will see Luke do a dark side turn.

It would ruin the storyline from the existing saga. Anakin is redeemed by Luke through his love and purity, only to have him turn dark 30 years later?

Just doesn't vibe with the story.
